Omegas Gives Family Home a Christmas Makeover
To my understanding, this was a joint effort between a good number of Bruhz in the Savannah area.
Thanks to the bad economy, many families continue struggling to make ends meet. With that in mind, one group of young men got together to make a difference in the lives of two Savannah families this holiday season.
Members of Omega Psi Phi fraternity arranged for them to enjoy a weekend of fun and gave their homes a makeover while the families were away.
April Davis started crying as she and her four young children arrived home to find a Christmas surprise inside.
“Overwhelming, happy, relief,“ she laughed. “It’s a big relief… Very,“ said the single mother.
There were new things for Edwards’ two sons and two daughters, plus a Christmas tree, stockings, and presents. All of it was made possible by the men of Omega Psi Phi and Men of Excellence.
“We all just fell in love with them from the start. the kids were so bright, so energetic, and the mother, she just had some hard economic times,“ said Christopher Johnson with Omega Psi Phi.
The group treated the family to a weekend of fun activities, while they worked like Santa’s elves to deliver the family’s Christmas surprise.
“Very rewarding, the best reward is to see that family coming here and the surprise that you see on their face. Because when they checked into the hotel on Friday, they were already ecstatic about staying in the Mulberry Inn for the weekend,“ said Johnson.
The group also cleaned the house and gave the family new furniture.
This is the second year they’ve done this project. They’re always looking for sponsors and donations, and they’d like to help more families next year.
