What did you give & get this year?

I thought there were similar threads to this before, but I just couldn't find them...Oh well, I suppose it won't hurt to start a new one of this holiday season?

What did you all give and get for Christmas/Hanukkah/the holiday of your choice this year?

I am so proud, I think I did really well for my presents this year. Everyone got what they wanted or what I knew they needed!

My mom & dad - I got them each nice work out pants. Kind of weird, but they both said that they specifically wanted that, haha
Brother - a hoodie from American Eagle
My boyfriend - those moccasin-like slippers that guys wear, and a nice sweater for his new "professional" wardrobe since he will be starting to student teaching in a few weeks.
My best friend - a new wristlet from Express filled with an Express necklace and bracelet, and two nail polishes from Victoria's Secret (she has the prettiest nails ever, and the colors I found were totally her!)
My roommate/close friend - a nice coffee travel mug, and a little coffee sample set from Starbucks. She just got a really nice new coffee maker and loves coffee, but never gets to enjoy it--she makes some in the morning, but always leaves before she can finish it. For the life of me, I don't know why she didn't have a travel mug before, but she definitely needed one!

And Santa was good to me for sure!

I got...
- a lavalier
- perfume
- a flat iron
- a pair of jeans
- a pair of shoes
- a jacket
- Catch Phrase
- a sweater
- a Best Buy gift card
- cash
and it's not here yet, but hopefully will be here before I get back to school, but a chapter guard for my badge!!

Santa was good to me as well...didn't get everything I would have liked, but hey that is why I have a job. lol.

All I really wanted was a new computer (more specifically this 4GB HP that I saw) and although I didn't get that specific one, I got one that was very similar (according to the specs on the comp, it's 3GB HP lol) So i'm happy

I also got clothes (yay no more graphic tees for me!), gift cards/money and some perfume.

As for things I gave:
My mom--a Snuggie (might as well give her what she wanted lol) and this back massager from Brookstone

My dad--NY Giants leather wallet, Giants toothbrush (lol) and this like swiss army knife thing that he seems to really like.

My brother--Cowboys wallet and shirt.

cousins (all 7 combined)--clothes, Bop it, Jenga, gift cards for the 2 oldest, and a bath set for the youngest.

I didn't have enough money this year to get everybody what they really wanted/needed.

But, with the little cash I did get, I got my sister a wireless mouse (which she's returning b/c our mom also got her one) and my parents a few MJ CDs. I was going to buy the This is It DVD as well, but while I was in line, I realized it was just a preorder for the Blue Ray... minor fail haha. So I put it away. I wanted to get them a surround sound system for the Living Room, but I was about $10 too short.

I really had trouble finding good gifts this year.

I got some clothes, some LEGOS, an amazing wireless mouse, and The Sims 3 + World Adventures. Oh, and another camera. It's like a knock off Flip. I'm not sure what to do with it since I just got a brand new camera in November for my birthday.

And, if you want to, I guess you could include the crap replacement phone I have to use for the next 5 months as another 'gift.'

I "adopted" a single father and gave him a gift card to a natural hair salon so he could get his dreadlocks maintained, and got his son a basket of books. I got my mom and stepfather gift cards.

I got an orange winter scarf

I didn't want anything for the holidays this year. My family is small and I pretty much get what I want for myself during the year. (Thanks to my Borders addiction)

I didn't give as good as gifts as I usually do, and am disappointed in myself. I had no choice but to get gift cards for one grandmother, and also my brother.

I gave: grandpa: scotch
granma: a necklace
mom&dad: went in with my brother to get an outdoor heater for their patio. (a big one like they have at bars)
other granma and brother: gift cers. to stores they like
bro's girlfriend: a bottle of wine and one of those fancy bottle stopper things

I got:
A saxophone!! Yeah! Also giftcards/money. And some cool clothes. Oh, and my bracelt. It is an ID braclet. I've decided to have the inside engraved, and to leave the outside blank. Best of both worlds. For sure.

A few highlights of things I gave my family:
Sister - a Gap sweater and a promise to make her a hat (lol I failed twice)
Step-mom - a photo album that she really liked! I think she's impossible to shop for, but she was excited
Uncle - homemade Norwegian Christmas bread like my grandma used to make

My boyfriend and I are exchanging presents tonight, so I won't say what I got him.

My favorite presents: money, more memory for my phone, a yarn store gift certificate, and pink bunny footie pajamas!!!

My step-mom also got me a North Face jacket, but it wasn't the one I wanted. She tried to be nice and get me a slight upgrade from the one I asked for, but I didn't want a hood, and I've rather have fleece inside than the wind-proof stuff. She's totally fine with me exchanging it, but I wasn't able to find the one I wanted today. I think I'll just order it online instead.

Gave:
Brother: Turbo Tax Premium (it's what he asked for...)
Sister-In-Law: B&BW gift card (it's what she asked for)
16 y/o Nephew: New Orleans Saints cap
13 y/o Niece: Aeropostale gift card
5 y/o Nephew: Butterfly House (you send away for caterpillars and grow them through their stages until they emerge as butterflies.. my mom had gotten one for my kids years ago and they loved it, when my brother suggested that for Zane, I had to go with it!)
Dad: Golf balls (it's what he asked for)
Dad's wife: Barnes & Noble gift card
Son: The best monitor for gaming per MLG, with only 2 ms lag or something like that, some jeans, camo water bottle (one of those environmental metal ones)
Daughter: Her Droid phone, skirt, cardigan, dress, tights, tank top

My family gives lists, so it makes it quite easy to get exactly what they want and I'm thankful for that. I should mention that the nephews and niece are my sister-in-law's kids and I haven't met them yet (I've only met her once!).

I got: Sensual Amber stuff from B&BW (my fave), a gift card to JCPenney, which I used yesterday online to get several things (huge sale! yay!), and MukLuks slippers from my kids. My daughter really surprised me. She used a Macy's gift card that she had gotten when she returned a birthday present last year to buy my MukLuks since her dad is out of work. I have to say, they are the best slippers ever. I love them. And, I'm impressed by her selflessness. I'm so glad I got the gift card for JCPenney. I have lost 50 pounds since last Christmas and new clothes for me has been the lowest priority so a lot of my clothes are just falling off of me. I did some thrift shopping about a month ago and got some staples for clothing, but didn't quite have enough. It's funny, until I started wearing smaller clothes, nobody said anything about the weight loss, even though I had lost it all by August. Now that I'm wearing clothes that fit, everybody is saying something to me about how much weight I've lost. I want to lose another 40-50 pounds though, so I don't want to buy TOO many clothes either.

My dad sent me a check weeks ago to buy a family gift of a new computer. I used it to buy Christmas presents for everybody else, but will buy a new computer when I get my tax refund. I was going to be giving the kids IOUs for Christmas otherwise... money is tight this year.
