1. WORK. Is it time to raise the bar at work? Perhaps there is a way for you to contribute in a more significant way, or maybe it’s time for a more challenging role. It could be a change as simple as arriving on time or leaving in time to have more time to spend with yourself and the people you care about. Identify one way that you could be more excellent in your work.
2. SELF-CARE. Are you taking great care of yourself? More sleep, more water, less junk food, a bit of exercise – are these elements missing from your schedule? Raise the bar of what’s acceptable in terms of how you care for your mind, body and spirit. Set a weekly pampering appointment with yourself to do something that makes you feel great.
3. MONEY. Do you have high standards about how you handle your money? That means saving and investing for the future, living within your means, eliminating consumer debt, increasing your income streams, sharing with others and making positive difference. Identify one personal rule you could implement this month that would have a positive impact on your finances. You could increase the percentage of money you save each month, commit to stop adding to your credit card debt or increase your financial literacy.
4. FRIENDSHIPS. Are your standards raised or lowered by the company you keep? One of the best ways to raise your standards is to surround yourself with people who have high standards and minimize the influence of those who don’t. Seek relationships with people who challenge and stretch you to be your best – learn from them.
5. FUN. Do you laugh, smile and enjoy your life on a daily basis? Raise the level of joy in your life by making “fun” a priority. You’ll lower your stress level, and dramatically increase your level of joy. It can sometimes be easy to get so caught up in your “to do” list and responsibilities that you forget to enjoy the people, places and experiences of the day.
