So You Think You Can Dance: Season 5
Get ready for it. 21 May is the air date! Definitely in my top two favorite shows out there. Reality wise anyway.
And if you missed one of the coolest SYTYCD auditions ever, check out Robert from last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnqBwXBe3HE

I love, love, love this show! Stumbled upon it last season and have been hooked ever since! Of course, I have to hit the MUTE button every time the screaming/crazy judge opens her mouth to comment. She gets really irritating. But other than that, I am looking forward to watching this season.

All that crying by the judges was irritating & too over the top for me. It seemed fake, IMO. *shrugs*

Ohh mary. I'm glad she's as crazy as before.
I really loved the girl who only had 3 vertabre.
AND I'm so glad that girl made it. The one who had the asian roommate (Kaite i think the name was....) who was all "i'm going to quit dancing if I don't get in" and then they took her last season> So pissed.

I really enjoyed the cirus girl who performed first, as well as the guy with the umbrella.
I also think Natalie and the other guy who nearly made the show last year are great, and are sure to get spots this time around.
To Nigel: Please don't bring Sonya to the auditions for next year...she was VERY obnoxious!

In fairness, I don't think Katie said she would quit dancing...
I believe she said she didn't think she'd audition for the show the following year if she didn't make it.

it's funny....when the guy walked out with the umbrella i thought, okay, after he dances he is going to cry and say that that umbrella represents someone in his life who died. sure enough...
i agree-the judges crying was over the top. they need to sedate themselves.

Katie was AMAZING though last year. You had to love her once the season starting going.

Random SYTYCD comment...
Is it just me or does it seem like there are a lot of repeat auditioners this year? Several of this year's contestants have talked about auditioning/making it to the top 40/getting sent to Vegas last year. Not that there's anything wrong with it - it just stands out to me. I don't remember this volume of repeat auditioners in prior seasons (or in similar shows, for that matter).

Two thoughts after last night:
1) I am really disappointed that Natalie was cut so early on. I agree that her actual performance of Sonya's jazz number in front of the judges wasn't spectacular, but I definitely think there were weaker dancers who were kept around longer.
2) Is it just me, or has Mia been really unpleasant so far this season? In the preview for tonight they showed a clip of her telling a dancer how "annoying" he/she was.

I agree with both those points
I was unhappy with the way they cut Natalie, especially after Sonya loved her so much she used her as an example...apparently that's the way she wanted it danced
Mia's got quite a nasty attitude. I know some people who went to a PULSE workshop in Nashville and they said she had a bad attitude and Shane was amazing.
I thought Tyce was overly-critical and obnoxious as a judge.
I thought Adam Shankman was a great judge...kept telling them not to give up on their dancing.
