COB events - what do i wear?

I went through formal recruitment and didn't pledge because the houses i really liked didn't offer me a bid.

about 4 weeks later, today, i got a letter from a house i really liked concerning COB. they've scheduled events for a few nights next week and i definitely want to go!

the events are a barbeque one night, a movie night the next night, and a mini-party at the house with food and music the last night.

i really liked this sorority and getting this letter seriously brightened my day 100% thinking i might have a chance. my only question is, what do i wear? i'm clueless about COB and i know its not AS formal but i dont know if that means you can wear your every day clothes or if you should still dress to impress?

any help greatly appreciated. thanks.

COB usually isn't formal, but always dress to impress. I would say you would probably be ok with nice jeans/skirt, a nice top, and some cute sandals or flats. Or some variation of that.

Agreed. You don't want to be wearing a sweatshirt, but you also don't want to wear a cocktail dress. And think about the types of events these are... a barbeque, movie, and mini-party.. dress accordingly for each. You might want to wear nice jeans and cute sandals to the barbeque and movie, but wear a skirt and shoes/sandals with a bit of a heel to the party (and nice shirts to all of them: keep it cute, conservative and classy).

And if you're still unsure, call the Greek Life office for more information.

Also take a clue from the sisters of the sorority (if you've been there long enough to do so). If they usually go to class in jeans & flip flops, don't go there overdressed.

So can I just mention how I'm pretty sure I wore a hoodie to a COB event. One that was not even from my school, pretty sure it was an OSU one Sometimes I'm amazed I ever got a bid...

But ditto what everyone else said. Most of the girls come to our COBs in a nice shirt and jeans.

lol I know right I just had to add that after the no sweatshirts thing.

Apparently though someone came to a Kappa event yesterday in gym shorts. It's formal recruitment but the first three days are open houses that function like a COB event. So I think she wins.

I want someone to show up in a bathing suit with a ruffle butt and skirt, under a bathrobe and wearing either fishing waders or rubber galoshes. Even a bright yellow Gorton's fisherman ensemble over a sequined & fringed flapper dress with cowboy boots would rock.

How about someone showing up in a neon "mini-dress" that was *obviously* a bathing suit cover-up and a pair of Grecian sandals with laces that tied up to the knees?

If I'm lyin', I'm dyin'.

I think I should wear that to court if I ever practice law!

Do tell, was there a bathing suit under it?
