Termination from a Sorority

My big sister in my sorority was sent an email from our president saying that she was terminated from the sorority (for financial reasons). My big sent her an email saying that she had the money now to pay off her debts, but the president said that they had already sent in the papers to internationals.
Obviously I am upset by this, but I am also confused about exactly what this means. I assume that it means that she is no longer associated with my sorority anymore, and is no longer my big sister (though that will never stop our friendship, which is good), but the entire thing is kind of confusing...
Can anyone help explain the process of being terminated to me? Thank you

Termination procedures and meanings vary by sorority.

Termination process/procedures for my sorority may be totally different than those of Alpha Phi.

Check your national policies or consult with someone who has knowledge of them (though you should be familiar with them if you're initiated).

The only thing I could say for sure is that your big would have had multiple warnings prior to this, so it is of her own doing for not taking care of her business. I don't imagine that varies from sorority to sorority- no sorority takes termination of membership lightly!
