Uh, what am I missing here.
That song was a huge hit when I was in college and I remember the words. I saw her and her band The Stoneponys do it live in a really neat little bar across the street from the TV station I worked at on weekends.
It's a fairly simple song about a woman who isn't ready to make a committment to her boyfriend.
What's so strange about that?

You and I travel to the beat of a different drum. Can't you tell by the way I run, every time you make eyes at me?
You cry, and moan and say it will work out, but honey child I've got my doubts. You can't see the forest for the trees.
Oh don't get me wrong, it's not that I knock it, it's just that I'm not in the market for a boy who wants to love only me.
Yes and I ain't saying you aint pretty. All I'm saying is I'm not ready for any person, place or thing to try and pull the reigns in on me.
So goodby, I belive-and I see no sense- in this crying and grieving.
We'll both live a lot longer, if you live without me.
I've seen Linda in concert 3 times, all in Houston. I would have LOVED to see her with the Stone Ponys. I also saw Bonnie Rait
in Jones Music Hall-WHAT A TREAT! Fogelberg twice, EAGLES at RICE!!!! (My Mothers' Day Gift)

It doesn't have the words "bawittababa", "coolin in my crib", or "rock the house" in it.

Is Linda Ronstatt famous? Maybe I would know her songs better if I was like 10 or 20 years older.

Billy-O
someones thinking of you and loving you tonight but then I keep thinking you're no damn good. You'd better let somebody love you before it's too late.
back at ya-hee hee.
zntke- Ronstadt was one of the most influential female singers in the '70's. She also was/is considered one of the most versatile as she has released albums varying from Country, rock, showtunes,40's, opera and Latin. (She is part Mexican American) She starred in the Pirates of Penzance (sp?) and with the exception of Pat Benatar had one of the widest vocal ranges of popular songstresses at the height of her popularity.
Unless you are a fan of a cross section of eras and style, yes, you are probably to young to know about her.

Mom and Billy,
Not to mention an album of big band favorites of the 40's and 50's.
Plus a couple of Disney movie soundtracks, including one song quoted above with Aaron Neville.
In addition, the wonderful "Trio" album with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris where they apparantely had to almost force her to sing the lead on several songs because she enjoyed singing background harmony so much.
A great and most versitile musician.
Also, a very sexy and somewhat rowdy woman in her youth, and "significant other" of Star Wars director George Lucas for a period of time.
"But you think I should be happy with your money and your name, and hide myself in sorrow while you play your cheatin' game..."
