So many things....

All I have to say is that if I were a parent (which I am not) and I am friends with the national president of the org my son is pledging, I'd have been on the phone with him already.

That's just me. My general opinions on this matter are fluid, sometimes leaning toward allowing a chapter to solve its own problems by making its own mistakes, but intervening where there is danger or criminal activity.

This, kind sir, is criminal.

I would not call the po-pos, but I would call the fraternity.

On the other hand, you're also treading into fwap-fwap helicopter dad territory with this one, which I can appreciate because there has been a crime committed, but at the same time, your son is an adult and has to deal with these people every day, and you do not.

I don't envy you.

Could you make an anonymous complaint? I'm sure any one of the pledges is probably thinking along the same lines as you. I'd definitely advise bringing it up to the President and/or whomever controls risk management in the organization. The alumni director or equivalent should probably also be contacted. There is, in my mind, absolutely no excuse for alumni who are supposed to be role models to be partaking in that sort of behavior. I agree that these guys need to get their act together, and in my opinion some house cleaning is definitely needed.

Hazing is illegal. Would have sat back had your son gotten hurt? I am sure you would not. You need to put a stop to it before your son or someone else does get hurt. An Alum who allows his residence to be used for hazing is an accessory to the crime. He allowed them to 1) tie your son up, 2) attempt to force alcohol down the throat of a minor, 3) seeking revenge because your son refused to be hazed. When I had heard of a hazing incident when my daughter was in school, I contacted the National President of the sorority and let her know, what I had heard. Hazing is dangerous and too many kids are dying senseless deaths and getting away with it.

BOUND him? As in tied him up?

Guys who are pissed off at other guys call them a-holes, punch them or something else. They don't tie them up. Even if they were welcoming him back with open arms, if I was him I'd make a beeline for the exit. That's a tad too kinky for me.

Sorry

His son is pledging a fraternity. His dad is in a different fraternity, but says he is friends with his son's fraternity's national president.

Son doesn't drink. Son was kidnapped and physically restrained by one of the big brothers or young alumni who tried to make him drink, but he refused.

Father came and asked if calling 5-0 and/or talking to the national president friend would be doing too much.

That's how I remember it.
