I think I want to rush?
I'm a 20 year old Junior who attends UGA. I'm strongly considering rushing, but am also concerned with my chances of actually getting a bid. What do you all think?

I know I should get out of here and let the sorority girls take care of it, but I just want to say something. I am getting really sick of all the PNMs coming in and I'm blah blah blah at blah U and want to rush, what are my chances. IF you want to do it, do it and don't worry about your chances. If you want to have a guarrentee that you will get a bid, you won't. Even a beautiful, MENSA level intellect who has an amazing resume is not guarenteed a bid. If you want to join a sorority or hell a fraternity for that matter, just go for it. IMO it's better to try and not get a bid then to never have tried and regret it for the rest of your life.

yeah, I just don't want to waste my time going through recruitment, if people on this forum can go ahead and tell me that my chances are low. I've read through a few posts titled "I'm blah blah, what are my chances," so I understand where you're coming from, but every school is different and I'm not very knowledgable about the greek system.

That's exactly it though. Ever School is different, and there have been several UGA threads recently. Also how is it a waste of time? I rushed three times before I got a bid, but I had the time of my life every single time. even if you try and don't get a bid, you will have memories of the recruitment process itself.

Best advice given by a guy EVER.
Seriously girls, this is UGA we're talking about. If you want to do it, do it. But as a junior, you're going to have a tough time.
It's quite difficult for a junior at UGA to get a bid during formal recruitment. Be prepared for a disappointment.
I find that if a chapter at a school like UGA DOES take sophs/juniors, they're girls they already know.
I do know that UGA had some spring informal last year and that a few chapters (don't know which) took some sophs and juniors, but there is no guarantee that they'll be doing it again this year.
Even if they were, every chapter only takes a handful of girls and there's no guarantee of a bid.

It's a waste of time for us to keep reading the same thread over and over.

Your chances are low. If you feel that it would be a waste of time to go through rush unless you are guaranteed a bid, I would skip it. But if you do skip it, don't become either despondent or anti-Greek that you missed your chance.
Did you just transfer there? Why didn't you rush before?

I'm sorry if you want someone to tell you "GO FOR IT! You'll totally get a bid!"
This isn't that kind of forum.
We're being realistic.
A junior at UGA is not going to have an easy time.

Sorry, sweet pea, but I call 'em like I see 'em. If you think going through recruitment, even if you don't get a bid, is a waste of time, then by all means don't go through. Just be aware that you're wasting your time right now.
Also, and this is a general comment, I'm sick and freaking tired of seeing PNMs say "well I read the boards and blah blah blah" and then turning around and asking the SAME FREAKING QUESTION that people didn't answer the first time. Either your reading comprehension skills are low or you didn't read the boards.

I originally posted without expecting this thread to become a venting place for everyone who probably shouldn't have read it to begin with. If you don't like it, I understand, but posting about how you "hate people like me" doesn't get any of us anywhere. I wanted an honest response about my chances, so thanks for those of you who have posted something informative for me and others who are in my position.
