For all the Grad and Professional Students
I'm new to the board but have noticed a lot of questions regarding rushing and eligbility for rush. I was hoping some of you might be willing to bring your expertise to this forum and make a list of those groups that do welcome graduate and professional students (NPC, NPHC, cultural, other social, service professional, etc.). This thread could then be a resource for older students to see one big list of groups that might welcome their interest this Fall.

Thanks for the replies! I didn't mean to give false hope. I just know that there are a lot of avenues for involvement in the diverse greek community. For instance, the group I belong to, Sigma Alpha Iota, initiated a grad student while I was in school. Disclaimer: Acceptance is never guaranteed and depends on the chapter and campus climate.

So, you are already in an organization? I recommend letting the aspirants do their own research.

And yes, I am in an organization I truly love.- SAI. I also happen to have graduated and seen questions from women and men who did not have the opportunity in undergrad and might be interested. I felt we could be encouraging in this thread by sharing groups that can legally accept them based on national policies with the understanding that local chapters can vary. There are a wealth of groups, and we may be missing out on some great grad student members. Just my opinion.

I'll bite.
So, you registered just for this helpful thread?
Have you visited the SAI forum?
Are you a GC sockpuppet or an SAI perp?

Good intentions, but finding that information shouldn't be up to us. It should be up to the individual seeking membership.

Shouldn't people talk to the members of their campus groups and get to know them, or the groups can invite someone to membership? I don't see the point in making a list like this as people who would want to be involved in a group would either approach members, or be approached by members.
Not everyone is meant to be a member of a group, and I honestly don't think we're "missing out" and when we meet someone we want as a member we'll handle it as we see fit. Honestly I would rather see a focus on retaining members and keeping them involved beyond their undergraduate experience and have more involved alumni and alumnae than recruiting graduate and professional students.

Nope-not a perp. Just a nice person who loves greek life and saw an opportunity to help other grad students after having a conversation with a non-greek friend today. However, I know when I am not wanted. I never meant for my intentions to be regarded as anything more than helpful. Best wishes to all!

Oh, and yes, I have browsed the SAI forum and others for several years. Interestingly, I was referred here by a sister after she talked to women in another SAI chapter at convention. After speaking with a girl in class today, I saw the opportunity to finally give some helpful info and decided to officially join. While I love my org, this warm reception has steered me away from this board. Mods- please delete. I guess I'm a perp just because I was nice!
