Forgive the naivete...so she was the only pledge/new member? Is probate when the new pledges/line are revealed, or after they cross?

I'm super impressed. To go through membership/pledging alone is a feat itself, but to do this alone (with her sisters supporting and watching and everyone else) - pretty cool!!

(Forgive the use of the word "pledge" - I don't know what part of the membership process that "Probate" entails.

A probate (the modern form anyway) is a public show with the new members (neos) that have just crossed. A coming out of sorts (so they are already members by the time they do the show just no one outside the org knows). Back in the day, a probate was part of the "pledge/pledging" program. It's now a voluntary thing.

Thanks, NinjaPoodle! I think it's a really cool tradition. So much makes sense now, regarding the discretion issue. Thanks for explaining it to me!!
