Motivation

Hello all!

This coming up Fall is my chapter's first structured recruitment we have had for the past 4 years. You would think that alone would motivate members enough to want to do whatever they can so that we can have a great recruitment. However, I am having a lot of trouble already getting members to participate (I'm the RC) and it's only the summer. We are having 3 new groups join our campus at once and I'm afraid that if PNMs don't see us motivated and excited then they won't want to join us. Is there any ideas that you have of things you may have done for motivation and chapter morale or anything else?

Thanks!!

I know it's corny, but the week before rush we have "spirit week." Here is where we put into practice all the discussions we've had on recruitment. We practice with each other recruiting girls, getting great conversations started and such. We even have a few girls pretend to be the "triple legacy to XYZ and not interested in us" or the "bathroom girl" or the "overly enthused girl" and then discuss.

Will you guys be doing door chants and songs? If so, we often practiced those and practiced yelling and screaming at the door.

How involved is your alumni in the area? We do a Mock Recruitment; where we (the alumni assoc.) get together and the actives rush us. Then we tell them areas of strengths and weakness.

During the week we send gifts from alumni sponsors to the actives to keep them motivated. They do silly dances (I can show you some video if you'd like), have a day to scrapbook together (we share our scrapbooks at prefs), have a craft day where you make decorations for the house, have a secret sister for the week (each day have the girls bring something for their secret sister - you can theme each day), and/or plan a day for a group of the girls (or the girls who want to) go and get manicures and pedicures. Take lots of pictures!!

THE BEST of all that I remember - Is each day of spirit week was themed. First day - PJ day, second day - 80s day, third day - Fav Chi O T-shirt day, fourth day - Owl Day, Fifth day - Dresses (Mock recruitment day)... And give prizes out for the best dressed that day (girls vote)!

If you need any more ideas let me know! I'm off the for the summer and have lots of free time to think of creative ideas!!

Thank you so much!! These are great ideas that I look forward to implementing.

Unfortunately for us, our alumnae aren't that active with us considering we're in Arkansas and we're not Psi chapter. But we have some great advisors that are willing to help us out with whatever!!
