David Carradine found dead in Bangkok hotel

"Kung Fu" and "Kill Bill" star David Carradine was found hung himself in a closet in a hotel room in Bangkok on Wednesday, Thai police said.

Police believed he committed suicide.

Carradine, 72, was in Bangkok to shoot a movie and stayed at a Suite Room 352 of the Park Nai Lert Hotel on Wireless Road since June 2.

The film crew were aware of his absence when they went to dine out at a restaurant on Sathorn Road on June 3.

Carradine did not show up at the dinner and the team could not reach him. They assumed that he took a rest because of his age.

It was a hotel's maid who opened his suite on Thursday at 10 am only to find Carradine in a closet. He was described as behind half naked.

Police investigation showed that he hung himself with a rope, the kind that is used with curtains.

Police said he was dead for not less than 12 hours and found no sign of fighting and assaults.

Totally agreed OTW.

Or worse, when they decide they want to do so, and do it in a way that puts other people in harms way (i.e. drinking/driving into oncoming traffic etc)

"They assumed that he took a rest because of his age."

This is the stupidest assumption I've ever heard of.

"I get really pissed off when I hear someone committed suicide."

You wouldn't really know unless you were in their position.

That is too sad! Ironically, I watched Kill Bill 2 yesterday (Wednesday, the day he died) because it's one of my favorites and I hadn't watched it in a while, but I had no idea he was dead! RIP.

Lame newbie.

While it's sad he's gone, what he did was completely stupid & selfish. I too agree with OTW.

I'm with whoever said it's time to re-watch KBV1&2. I've been meaning to watch them again for a while now...I'm forgetting some of my favorite one-liners.

Well, it doesn't sound like he killed himself on purpose. I've read that it was a sex act gone wrong.

Regardless of what your own personal opinion of suicide (if that's what it was) is, the fact remains that a son, a brother, a father is no longer alive. We should be mourning that.

/end nikki1920's soapbox

That is possible and that's another reason why suicide rates have a "dark figure."

The policie investigation should be able to distinguish sex act from suicide, though.

R.I.P.

Yes....according to THIS article, it is suggested he might have died from "auto erotic asphyxiation" because tied to the rope around his neck, they found a rope tied to his penis.

But Chuck Binder (Carradine's manager) said that a producer told him that there was DEFINITELY foul play....who knows. Hopefully they figure this out all, and I hope that he didn't commit suicide.

I admit that its just me, but I think I have seen too many lives abruptly ended. So when I hear of something like this I just ask God to be generous to him and add a small request for myself for the guts to face and repel what ever might confront me in my life that would be enough to cause me to consider such an act.
What ever brought him to such a sad end and however much his actions might hurt those who cared for him I must remind myself of the words from "The Office of the Dead" (the funeral rite I am sure many of us have heard before).
"If You, oh Lord, mark our iniquities then who among us can stand?
May our Lord forgive you your sins and bring you to everlasting life. May your soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace, fulfilment, and joy among the souls of the faithful who have gone before marked with the sign of faith.
Eternal rest grant unto him oh Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him".
