When is a good time to start expanding your organizations

What up to all my fellow greeks out there and i hope your having fun at your homecomings and meeting those old brothers, and sisters that you haven't seen in a long time. Well i would like to give u the run down of my issue that i'm addressing today. Back in feb of 2001 there were 5 brothers who took it upon there selves to change the image of the young male on Olivet college campus that is located in the middle of Mich so to speak. But we are into another semester and as an alumni i was wondering when is a good time to expand your fraternity. Should u wait till you have been around for two years or so, or should u go for it when you have your first pledege class. Now our first pledege class is coming up in Jan, so would u recommend that we wait until 2003 and have another class then seek expansion or should we give it a try during the summer of 2002 or the fall. If any one can help me with this issue that would be great. I'm looking for all advice, question, comments, and concerns right now. Because if it was not for greek life what can i say about my college life.

From your brothers of the newly accalim fraternity Mu Omega Pi, were taking greek life to a higher level... and GOD Bless...

?

D.O., are You talking about the chapter you started or doing multi chapters?

When I started my local, it was with the idea of affiliating with a National Fraternity.

Sometimes in looking back I think, damn there may be a National Beta Chi!

You will find that no matter how big the Internationals/Nationals are, they are like everybody else, they have costs to operate! I cannot speak for all of the Greek Orgs. but one of my Brothers wife is a regional advisor( Vollanteer ) for ASA and one of my Tobacco Reps is a KS DGM and are vollunteers!

Our ELC's, Reps, they work with the chapters are paid along with a large office staff.

This all cost money and as the cost of insurance because of Risk Management goes up, so does the cost to the individual in a chapter!

Running a Major Greek Org. is like a business and does cost. It is much the same for a Local only on a smaller scale! If your local lives in a house whether you own or rent you pay insurance of some kind!

Risk Management cost is for Insurance for things that happen to you members and with houses burning and deaths of members that is what risk insurance is for getting sued

Parents will sue 1. the school, 2 the local chapter, and 3 the International!

Without the breaks that a large Org. gets it is a lot higher for a local if you hve that end of it covered!
