Cool Favorite Children's Books

This was discussed more seriously in another Forum, but I thought we could start a new game. You get to name ONE children's book that you love/loved at a time, or a series. Examples would be:

The Little Prince

or

The Bobbsey Twins series

BUT NOT "anything by Dr. Suess. Ready?

The Little House Books.

Okay not to sound like a total blonde, but I'm kind of at a loss on how this is a game?

Am I supposed to come up with one of my favorite kids books that house either "the", "little" or "house" in the title?

Too bad with no Dr. Suess "Oh, the Places You Go" is one of my all-time books in general because it really "speaks" to you.

Anyways, ending my mini Dr. Suess hijack, need clarification on how this game is supposed to work. Because I actually just started listing all my favorite books until I went back and looked at your post an realized this was supposed to be a game.

It's just a list of children's books you love/loved.

The only stipulation is that you DON'T say "One Author's entire collection". You CAN say, One Author's Book, or Oh, the Places You'll Go - Dr. Suess. Or, The JRR Tolkein Trilogy - but not EVERYTHING BY JRR TOLKEIN, or EVERYTHING BY DR. Suess.

Does that help?

Think of it as a list of good or fun children's literature that you'd like to see your children enjoy, but you only get to list one book or collection at a time.

So I'm guessing that I can list all the books I loved as a child.

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry (I think that is how her last name is spelled)

Oh, The Places You Go by Dr. Suess

The Baby-Sitters Club (yeah can't remember the author)

Sweet Valley High by Francine Pascal

I Wish I Were A Butterfly (sorry don't remember the author either)

The Polar Express & Jumanji by Chris Van Allsburg

I know that there are more, but I can't think of them now. Plus, I would love to mention some children's books that I have read and now own to read to my students and hopefully future children (when I have kids).

Am I doing this right?

Well, yes and no. I was going more for one at a time. Do you want to edit it to just leave one of those (stellar, IMHO) books up?

Oooooo.....can I play?

I discovered this book during Chi Omega's Centennial Philanthropy (Reads Aloud), when we read to elementary school children for the year (1995).

It's a great book -- I loved the main character, Lil Nutbrown Hare, so much I use a variation of it as my screen name!
