Positive Only!
Okay, I was looking at all these posts and the most recent ones are all negative. It is driving me insane!! So, this thread is for positive things only! Like why you love being greek, your favorite memory, or your favorite sorority or fraternity.
My favorite fraternity right now is Farmhouse, someone no one here talks about. My boyfriend is in there and they are about the most laid back, down to earth, we don't care what you think about us group. I love hanging out there.
I also love Lambda Chi right now. Their guys are just classy and top notch. Their pledge class stands out to me.
I love being in my sorority because although I am having a tough time in school (I am a senior and don't care about classes anymore) every class I walk into I have a smiling sister, or when I get home there is an encouraging thought on my door. When ever I walk in someone is there to hug me and because the other night when I was bored two of my sisters went with me to Target (cause I love that place!) and I made cookies and homemade chicken noodle soup.
I just love being an Alpha Gam.

What an AWESOME idea! I love happy responses--
Okay, I am an alum, but back when I went to school, my favorite fraternity was Lambda Chi, because they were a great bunch of guys to hang out with and they would always look out for you.
My favorite sorority was OF COURSE, AOTT because thats what I am, but I also had best friends in Alpha Xi Delta, and they were also pretty darn cool. I always got to be the token AOTT at any AXiD function!

it's fun to be greek..and many positive things come from it...but at the same time...it is just another part of life which comes with many negatives
BUT....I like being greek because I do...I can't explain it....I can't describe it...I can't put it into words...but it's a positive feeling...and that's what it's like for me.....it's above and beyond....

I love my sisters
Many of you may have remembered me writing that I was disappointed in my house. WEll this past weekend we had retreat and it was the best retreat out of the three I have been a part of. I felt so close to my sisters. We have 18 awesome new girls with so much leadership potential and I love all of them. I shared something very personal with my sisters that none knew and they reached out to be in enormous ways. Many new girls told me that they want to talk to me bc they have had similar experiences. The next morning we each decorated aposter board with our name and we sat in a circle and passed them around. We had to right positive things about our sisters, stuff that mattered nothing like " You have cute clothes" or " I like your hair," but rather," I really appreciate the time you take to talk to me" etc. It was such a booster for all of us girls. I have gotten really close to one sister and we both bawled on eachother's shoulders bc we mean so much to each other. I have more faith in my house than ever before! I love my Alpha Sigma Alpha Beta BEta sisters.

CONGRATS!!!!!
That is sister hood!
We are all different, no matter what group we are in and do not neccessassrily sgree with everything!
To this day I do not agree with my chapter and International on some things and I let them know it!
It has and must be worked out for the betterment of the group!
It does not matter who feels right or wrong, you may bot be wrong!
Or you both may be right but a different perspective of the ideals of the problem ?
I did not get a long with some of my Brothers when I started the Local, but today as hard as I try, I do not get along with one no matter how hard I try. So Be It, Sh-- do happen!
Do not let yourself get soured on the few when there are the many!!

One of my fav AGD sisterhood moments was when I was working in Athens (GA) during the summer decades ago and living at the AGD house. There were only about 10 of us in this huge house. They made me feel like a real sister...like going out to the Dunkin Donuts in the middle of the night for Bavarian Creme donuts. Boy, I missed that when I started back in the fall at West Georgia, lol!!

My best and most favorite collegiate Alpha Phi moments are a collage of: - Late-night study breaks and laughs at the house
- Formal meetings
- The excitement of reading my bid card
- The smiles and support of my sisters
- Football games
- Teddy bear drives (and the smiles they bring)
- Meeting new sisters
- Initiation
- Candle passes
- Alpha Phi songs
- Party pictures
- Mixers, formals, date parties
- Discovering the name of my big sis
- Attending my first Alpha Phi convention
- Recruitment, recruitment, recruitment! So much fun (and hard work!)
Fave fraternities at Tech: Truly, I think they're all great. Nearly each one of them has a special philanthropy and raise tons of money each year. Just so far this semester there's been: - Delta Sig's "Ms. Greek"
- Beta Theta Pi's "Beta 500" (a race of go-carts, where all sororities compete against each other--we all look forward to this one every year--so much so that only seniors get to race, so eventually everyone gets her turn)
- "Fiji Olympics" (where all the sororities compete in a variety of fun/silly events)
- Sigma Alpha Epsilon's Chili Cook-off
There are a ton more to come. The Greek men and women at Tech are very active and are ALWAYS planning and participating in each other's philanthropical events. I am very proud of all the Greeks at Tech.

I applied to transfer cross country this year... I wasn't feeling very at home at my current school, and was ready for a change of scenery. I just found out that I wasn't accepted, and when I told my sisters I wouldn't be transferring, they nearly bowled me over, they were so happy. I loved that.... that I found out how much I meant to them.
Also... we have 9 new members this semester (informal rush) and I have gotten very close with one of them who I know is having a hard time with pledging (her boyf is very anti-greek). I think she may be my second little... I'm just so excited that these women are going to be in my chapter.
I love AXO. I love my chapter, my chapter room, my pledges (new members ), and my letters. I love my colors and my paddle and the fact that everyone hates their composite picture, even though we all look beautiful. I love that there is always someone on campus to eat a bagel with and that my pledge sister and I do the crossword together every morning before class. I love that we had a sisterhood retreat this weekend and I didn't stop laughing the whole time. I love that we had a mixer with Pi Kappa Alpha on Friday and we are better drinkers than them. I love that my advisor is so dedicated that she is getting married on Saturday and she invited the chapter. I love that my bid is framed. I love that there is so much to be proud of about my organization. I love dressing up for chapter and looking around at the beautiful women who, like me, put such faith in this Bond to guide our daily lives.
Sorry, got a little emotional there

Inter-Greek positivity!
OK, I went to homecoming this past weekend so I am all high on Greek life!
-I love the fact that I saw DZ and SSS sisters from my "era" and feel as close to them as I do my own sisters - just cause we have that bond of place and time and our Greek affiliations, even though they are all different.
-I loved hanging out with Greek boys, (or should I say men, hee hee) I forgot how fun they are and how a lot of the male/female BS gets cut through cause of the Greek bond and all that binds us together.
-I loved seeing my sisters and hanging out with them like not even a minute has passed since the last time we saw each other!

I love my own sorority but a great time for me was the friendships I had with girls in the other sororities. My bestfriend, Kim (AOPi)- she went thru Spring Rush and XO and AOPi rushed her- she choose AOPi but that did not ruin our friendship at all- just made it stronger. Mary, a Gamma Phi, was in all my classes and we just had the best time together! When she came out to New Jersey to do her internship- I'd drive to see her on the weekends. "Shorty" was a Zeta and in all the student organizations I was in- another great friend. It was just the best to not only have 70 plus sorority sisters to count on but many more friends in other sororities!

Well obviously I'm in my pledge semester here, which every frat guy will tell you is the best by far. I'm having a blast with my pledge brothers, and really most all of the actives I've made a good connection with. It's funny b/c I'll ocasionally feel homesick, but the one weekend I did go home was the least fun weekend of the school year. I ended up really missing everything at the house, and of course I had no idea about anything that had gone on that weekend.
As far as sororities go, I have a girl who has turned in to a really good friend in tri-delt, and another in APhi. Gamma Phi is our block and they are really cool too. As far as frats go--I have a lot of respect for Phi Psi, due to how cool they were during a KKG philanthropy soccer tournament, when we played them. I also think Kappa Sig's are pretty cool, but I haven't really met anyone in there other than my second cousin. I have varying opinions on the rest of the houses, kinda depending on who've I met, and also what my bros tell me.

Alright...I just have to brag!!!!!
Here's something positive!!! I just found out that my big sis made it into the first round of Homecoming Court. I convinced her on Sunday night to sit down and fill out the application because I know she would make an awesome addition to the court. Anyways...if she makes it into the court...I get to be her Homecoming Queen campaign manager!!!!!!!! I'm so excited. I'm so glad I'm in a GLO at times like these because I love sharing in all of the special memories that my sisters experience.
