question for n.p.h.c
Ok I have been following the n.p.h.c fraternities/sororities since my junior year of high school and I basically know information about all of them even stuff people wouldnt care to look up. That being said I want to pledge my sophmore year of college, but i'm not interested in a particular frat, I kind of like them all the same. So before pledging should I try to pick a frat to pay more attention to?
And i know alot everything about the frats such as the starting year, famous members, campus they started on, and the different bonds they have with the sororities. Does knowing information like this help?

I would think that you'd want to choose a fraternity before you even begin to think about pledging.

I think it's good that you basically come to this with no stereotypes or preconceived notions about the fraternities. That's hard to do these days, especially at an HBCU.
I suggest that fraternity aspirants use the following formula:
1) Do I feel at home in a room full of these guys?
2) When I read their history, does it resonate with me in some way?
3) Do I strongly identify with their notable members?
4) Is their national program something I strongly believe in?
Whichever organization inspires strong, positive reactions to all four of these questions is the one for you.
Good luck!

You mean to tell me that you know so much information and have "followed" these organizations but don't know whether you should pick a frat to pay particular attention to and how to go about doing so?
I don't believe you.

thats how i felt when during my senior year of high school and during my first few weeks of college, but i didnt want to say "oh i want to pledge this frat" and then not like how they operate on campus
example: i said i wanted to pledge this frat on campus (im not going to name them) and it turns out i barely see their members on campus and they're barely involved with any of the activities

Then get to learn more about the chapters on your campus. That's part of the research process.

So you didn't have any service until you wanted to pledge a frat?
Are you genuinely interested in service and overall empowerment or are you just going to play the role?
