Tibute to Heroes-On NOW!
The telethon hosted and telephone calls "handled" by celebrities.
Alicia Keyes (thumbs up)
Mariah has cut the hair AND put on some clothes!
I didn't expect to see celebrities ACTUALLY answering telephones!
It's a good thing, though!

I am sooooo proud of Mariah. I have not seen her this clothed in ages.
I am very touhed by the stories and footage they are showing.

This wasn't on the tribute, but it has touched me...
I didn't see Dubya's speech last night. But on Dateline and the other channels, Lisa Jefferson, a operator for GTE Verizon, communicated with one of the heroes of the United Flight 93. The guy gave Lisa (also his wife's name) a message in case something happened. The wife had the 2 small children and the third is on the way in January. Anyway, she was the last to speak to him and she said they prayed together before they "jumped" the hijackers.
 whew!

I wasn't going to watch, but I am so glad that I did. I think they should have had Ray Charles singing "America the Beautiful", because he can tear it up, and I like his version much better than Willie Nelson.
Now I said this earlier in a different post but now I want to put it where it belongs on this topic. I saw Mariah, and I think that it seems funny that she was ok to do this tribute all of a sudden, and it also coincides with her movie coming out today. Just something to make you go......hmmmmmm.

Why her?
Why did Celine Dion ( I didn't see it, I heard the voice so I guess that was her) sing "God Bless America"? I know that U2 was on the show, they are from Ireland, but they didn't sing the "Battle Hymn of the Republic", but why did she have to sing that? She is from Canada, not here! She must be getting ready to drop another recording.
Mariah's voice sounded "funny".
Have you all seen U2's all-star tribute video "What's Going On"?
It features U2, Michael ? from R.E.M, A. Keyes, Limp Bizkit, DC, Mary, Eve, J. Dupre, Puffy, et. al. I think I saw it on VH-1.
At first, I thought that they didn't have US reading any parts. Shucks, I can read! Then came Will, Ali, and Chris Rock. I have NEVER seen him as serious as he was before. He looked like he was in a trance.

He looked he was under the "YOU WILL BE SERIOUS HYPNOSIS" or something. He looked like he was straining not to smile or something.

It just goes to show that even comedians can be serious. They don't have to be under any spell or anything like that...
This just proved that this something serious has occured and there is NOTHING funny about it.

When I said what I said it was not in jest, it was just that it was different and also the first time I have ever seen him in such a serious manner. Of course, comedians can be serious. However, usually when a comedian is in front of the camera, he is there telling jokes/entertaining.
Moving on. . .

I thought everyone did a good job.
Celine is from Canada, but her son was born in Florida which is where she and her husband live most of the time. I hope that helps explain her singing a little.
Chris Rock did look like he was in a trance or something. He was stretching his eyes so wide.
Mariah looked so much better. The girl gained a little weight and looked well rested. I forgot her movie came out during the weekend.

Soror, you have got to come better than that one. LOL. She and Rene' are STILL Canadian (ne). Are they CITIZENS of the US? Anyone can have a home anywhere on this earth. I still feel that an AMERICAN could have done that song.
Members of U2 have homes in the US, and again, did they sing the Battle Hymn of the Republic? God Bless America? NOPE!
LOL
Shoot, she could have done something else! I don't have a problem with her singing on the show, but the song she sang.

I can't come up with a better excuse. lol I didn't mind her singing it at all. Heck, Macy Gray forgot the words to our national anthem, and she is AMERICAN!
