Pref. Party when I was going through formal and def. Bid Night... those first moments when Sigma was a part of my life just made me cry and cry and cry. It was an amazing feeling.

So far, my favorite memory of Sigma was when I went to their (our) Preference party in 2003, when I went through Structured. It was so beautiful and my best friend was in the chapter and she had written my preference letter- made me bawl like a baby. Anyway, the ceremony just showed so much of what Sigma is like and I fell in love with the chapter right then and there. My decision to put Sigma as my #1 choice on my Bid Card was NOT because of my friend, but because how awesome the chapter was.

One of my favorite Sigma moments was my Bid Day. I just remember being SO happy to finally be a Sigma. I didn't go through recruitment freshman year, becuase I was worried about my course load since I was in the honors program. By second semester, I was so sad not to be Greek and at that time, no sororities on my campus did COR. The good thing is, though, that by waiting a year, I had a chance to observe all (at that time) 3 chapters on campus, and had TONS of friends in Sigma, so I knew that's where my heart was! Anyway, on my bid day, we had a cookout and afterwards went to the football game. I still can remember walking off the Sigma floor to the stadium and feeling SO HAPPY...like I was finally home!

I have a few myself:
*Getting my bid that I was scared I wouldn't get.
*Getting my #1 rush crush my first recruitment as an active.
*Seeing us get OUR NEW house this past August!

My newest favorite Sigma memory was this semester's Big/Lil Matchup. I was getting a Grand Lil- I was hoping to get one before I go alumni. My Grand Lil is such a perfect fit into my family line- I couldn't be happier!!!

I wanted to bump this up with some of my most favorite moments as both an active and an alumna:
*Seeing my collegiate chapter double in size in just one year!
*Being there for my big sister's candlepass when she announced her engagement this Sunday!

- Our Sisterhood retreat during my first semester in Sigma - it was so much fun just to be silly and get to know one another. I have many priceless photos of an impromptu dancing session one night; a good song came on and we were off. That was also the weekend my Big Sister was revealed.
- My Initiation: it was absolutely beautiful. And I was so proud to wear my Big Sister's badge for three days.
- The fun of getting my Little Sis and leaving presents for her everyday for the Big/Little week. I thought I was being clever and throwing her off the path, but she'd already figured me out, haha. She also figured out who everyone else was matched with (and got it right!).
- Being a part of the A/CAC in 2003, it was so amazing and inspiring to go to Walton House and meet such wonderful sisters, and to be a part of making the sisterhood stronger and better.
- I have so many special Sigma memories, I could go on for ages, but will refrain for now and perhaps post more later.
Sigma Love,
Laura

Yay ∑∑∑
--Suiciding Sigma... now that I know so much more about recruitment, I can't believe I had the guts to do that!
--Growing my family and spending time with the Snakes: my big, my little and half-little, my two grandlittles (one of whom has since dropped Sigma but I still love her), and my great-grandlittle.
--Being the matriarch of my family. Letting little #1 and now great-grandlittle wear my pin until they got theirs.
--Meeting random sisters. One stopped me at the mall in Fresno to ask if there was a chapter nearby. I told her that Beta Nu had been there in the 50s but that the closest was Epsilon Alpha--and she was an Epsilon Alpha! I met one at a work barbecue--she'd been a friend of my mom's for a long time and I guess I'd never worn letters around work before. And I even have my boyfriend trained to spot Sigma letters 'cause last time I visited him, he noticed the girl in the letter shirt crossing the street WAY before I did!
--At Christmas, we had the bio daughter of a Sigma as a guest... the present she got for me was PURPLE for Sigma!
--Knowing that whenever I need help, I can find it in a sister... even if it's not the sisters I would usually be closest to, someone will find me when I need them the most!

*Hearing that my chapter won the Commitment to Excellence award (along with Beta Delta) this past summer at Convention.
*Taking my first & only Little Sis in Fall 2006!
*Seeing my Little become a leader in the chapter and take 3 Littles of her own!
*Seeing my chapter go from LAST in grades to #2 in one year!

My absolute favorite memory of Sigma is hands down my initiation. I was a charter member and to experience the beauty of our Ritual and then knowing that we were founding members was just awesome!
