I have no idea. I hope it's not true...that would be sad.

It is true. The decision to close UNC-Chapel Hill was made earlier this semester. I believe they will be attempting to re-colonize though, since we have substantial property there (not sure when that would take place). This makes me sad b/c they colonized when I was an undergrad, and I remember thinking their house was amazing, when it was on the cover of the Lamp.
Also, you may be thinking of Alfred...since the school has banned all Greeks, DZ is closing that chapter. It is DZ policy not to participate on campuses that don't officially recognize Greek organizations.

I am not aware of any more closings.

UNC-Chapel Hill is weird. We just lost a chapter there. I believe they ceased operations at the end of the 2001-2002 school year. We left for numbers, I believe, and it sounds like DZ is too. I wonder what is going on there that they would lose two chapters in such a short time.

That's horrible. I can't even imagine how heartbreaking it must be for the women in those chapters.

Sorry to crash the board, but I think UNC just lost Phi Mu too...I'm right down the road at NCSU and we just added Delta Gamma...what is UNC doing wrong?

It kind of makes you wonder, if they're losing TWO chapters around the same time. Maybe there's just a trend of fewer girls wanting to join sororities?

In the 1990's when a pledge died at my school, the Board of Trustees kicked off all the chapters at the campus at the same time. I think there were 8 total. |

I think the women of these two chapters and the national organizations of Phi Mu and DZ will disagree that closing two chapters in a short time at one university is more than "nothing."
