Exiled
So I saw a preview of this on MTV, and I was
Exiled
The cast is: Meleny, Bjorn, Alex, Ava, Amanda, Chelsi, Marissa, and Sierra.
If any of these names sound familiar, its because they are former "Sweet Sixteen"-ers.
Quote:
Watching My Super Sweet 16 can give us a glimpse of "the good life."...how many of us sit there wishing that these spoiled teens could be slapped with a serious dose of reality?
Wish no more, because they're about to get Exiled! Fed up with their seemingly endless mooching, their parents have had enough of this Sweet 16 set and are ready to send them away to learn the lesson of a lifetime. They've arranged to place their children in remote parts of the world with host families who have never tasted anything close to the high society life.
|
The trailer is hilarious, listening to these people in different parts of the world (one girl goes to Peru, another to Africa, etc) say how fed up they are with these girls!
Anyone gonna watch?

I'll totally watch! I was surprised that Ava signed up because being from season 1 she'd be the oldest. Also, when she did a remix episode she talked about how horrified she was of not only how she came across. She seemed to acknowledge that she had grown up quite a bit since her episode.

LOL at the parents, who created these spoiled little monsters, getting "fed up" with their spawn and sloughing them off on other unsuspecting families to deal with them.
We can only hope this won't be as "set up" as Paris and Nicole's "roughing it" shows and that maybe they'll really get the opportunity to learn in these new environments and grow as people. But if I had my way, I'd ship their parents off with them. I'm sure those apples haven't fallen too far from their trees.

Can I just say something? I HATE the way Bjorn and his family pronounces his name. It's a Scandinavian name pronounced "Byorn" not "Buh-jorn". It hurts my ears!!!

Ava had her MySpace profile public at one point, and I know she headed off to UCSB.
I can't wait to see Ava, Chelsi, and Alex -- those three were the absolute worst, IMO. The others were spoiled and just really annoying.
Too bad Alexa (the Cuban-Filipina from Miami) didn't make the cut. I would love to see her in a Third World country.

I didn't think Alexa was as bad as the other Miami quincenera (can't remember her name), the one where she bitched at her mom cause she got her car during the rehearsal instead of the party.

True, but Alexa did bitch at her mom for ordering those centerpieces and then demanding that she get the money they saved on ordering the cheaper ones. That girl was pretty rotten. Her belly dancing routine and being half naked in front of her dad and family -- all to make her BF jealous was disgusting.
My most favorite quince has to be Janelle the ballerina's.

MTV played a huge 1 hr preview for all eight episodes yesterday. I'm definitely intrigued to see how these spoiled "angels" handle real life for someone else. I couldn't help cheering when one "angel" was politely told to "Shut...up."
I almost feel bad for Bjorn because I'm not to sure how the men will take to his intense connection to his feminine side. Maybe they're thinking the hard work will help him man up. I doubt it, but it'd be nice.
I'm actually disgusted that Bjorn's mom was wearing her Delta Sigma Theta shirt on the same show that displayed how her son was so disgustingly spoiled by their parenting skills that she and his father had to shipping their child off to a third world country for a reality check. How about...community service to instill some humility and/or appreciation??? Damn it, Mom.
I'm still watching...

I think that the girl that you were talking about was Audrey. I hope they do a second season, because there are some more people that deserves to be on Exiled, (i.e. Audrey)

Or how about doing something like the person who made the most progress for helping gets $25,000 to donate to charity?

That would be nice. If the kids really, really learned something, then I'd be that they could grow so much despite their parent(s)' inability to instill decent values in the kids. Sorry, but I really can't stand the parents whining. At least one Mom and Dad admitted they had not prepared their child to be in the real world as an independent person.

I know of at least 3 Sweet Sixteen-ers (Jacqueline/Lauren, the SATC themed girls, and another one who asked her guests to bring stuff for Toys for Tots) that asked their guests to bring something for charity in lieu of gifts.
Those parties I really enjoyed watching.

i love shows like this, because even if the cast members don't learn anything sometimes the audience does. i'm just glad the kids are being exposed to a culture foreign from their own racial/ethnic background. i think i'd be less inclined to watch if the black kids were automatically sent to africa, etc.
going to dinner early so i can catch it tonight!

That other person was Katie, who theme I loved, which was a Christmas theme.
Off topic, but has anyone see the show Queen Bees on The-N? I think that show is baloney. Some of these girls will go back to the same old selfs.

I can't wait to watch but when I was watching the preview epi I couldn't help but think that I wouldn't react much better to a 3rd world life.
