Tix on sale for 2009 inauguration

Has anyone ever heard of tix being sold for inauguration festivities such at the parade and the swearing in ceremonies?

Regardless, there is a website for tix if anyone wants to go:

This HAS to be a scam. I have never heard of tickets being needed for the inaugural parade.

Don't know anything about tickets but some co-workers have booked hotel rooms already, in anticipation of Obama winning.

Are they for the grandstand, or another reserved area? Other than that, I *think* it's illegal to sell tickets to the Inaugaration. The balls are usually invitation only, so if people selling their invitations, at best it's tacky.

Besides, the ball invitations usually don't go out until just after Christmas. At least, the ones I know of.

Co-sign. Plus, the website is amateur -- generally a sign that something's not official (and why isn't it through a .gov site?). Lame.

I went to Clinton's back when I was knee-high to a grasshopper and we didn't need tickets. Saw Jack Nicholson there too!

well damn. $1400 for the inaugural ball? and why are the ticket prices different for the other two events? $575 for the Arizona (assuming Mccain winning i guess) and $650-750 for the Illinois event...

i wont lie, if Obama wins, and i had that much laying around, AND i thought this was perfectly legitimate...i do believe i might have to splurge and attend.

They're a ticket reseller. They're counting on people who get tickets selling them to them so they can resell them. They don't have access to tickets directly.

If you want tickets to the FREE events, contact your Congressman's and Senators' offices. There will not be many tickets for the balls, even through resellers. Tickets go to big donors and honoraries first, and that list will exhaust the supply. With the size and scope of Obama's campaign, there will be people who were high-dollar-givers and heavily involved that may not even get tickets. I was involved in '92 and it was similar with the excitement around the Clinton/Gore win; the list of donors who had to be called and told why they would NOT get tickets was ridiculously long. He's right that some of the "smaller" balls might be easier to get tickets to, but they are usually not released until the last minute. So if they manage to get their hands on tickets, they will be rare and EXTREMELY overpriced.
