My Dad's Childhood Friend Died

I had just found out that my dad's childhood friend died. He was days shy of his 70th birthday. He was an artist whose work has been displayed in his native Argentina. He tried unsuccessfully to capitalize the success in America. He was like an uncle to me and his kids were like my cousins. His health was failing in recent years, but he visited three of his children who live overseas (his eldest son lives in California) on a regular basis.

He is survived by a wife, four children, two brothers, one sister, several nieces and nephews and several greatnieces and greatnephews.

My thoughts are with you and your father. Your father's friend seemed to live a wonderful life!

Hootie, thank you for your kind words. He did live a wonderful life.

Anyway, I learned that his youngest son (26 years old) had gotten married recently. Also, his only daughter is pregnant (I don't know when her due date is). He was looking forward to becoming a grandfather for the first time and possibly spoiling the kid.

He had a summer home that was about 350 miles from Buenos Aires which he and his family spent their summers at. My parents and I spent a few days with them when we went to Buenos Aires to attend a wedding almost 11 years ago. They had a neighbor there in which I don't remember meeting, he also died recently.

It is a sad day!
