Future Pledge at The University of Alabama
Alright so I'm a junior in high school right now and am very interested in being in a fraternity in college. It's basically a 100% sure thing that I'm going to Alabama. I have a brother and sister at Alabama now, but neither of them are Greek. I was wondering if there's any good way to get involved and get known by some fraternities this early.

Make sure you get into college first. Even though you are pretty sure you're going to get accepted to this particular campus, you don't know what the future holds. Other than that, start building your time management and leadership skills. This will help you no matter what lies ahead.

Work on your grades and involvement while in high school. Both will be important to marketing yourself to potential chapters.

Just keep it up and know that a lot of things can change in a year or two. Also, just my personal opinion but college is too much fun to rush through. Take some time and enjoy it. Just because you can graduate early doesn't mean you should rush through the next 10 years or so of life.

Start talking to people that you know and see if they're legacies anywhere. try to go up there, especially during the last weekend before finals and go to all of the parties to meet the guys.

You could always contact a couple of fraternities on the campus your interested in. It will get your name around and you can get some information. My fraternity offers a small scholarship to kids coming out of highschool so you could see about applying for something like that.

Yeah, it will get your name around as "Who is this nerd who doesn't go to a feeder school, doesn't know anyone who is Greek, and called us when he's a junior in high school." That may be a good idea somewhere, but NOT at Alabama.

I mean feeder schools for different houses, but if that's what you mean too then you should already know lots of people in fraternities. Talk to them about it. If you went to a fraternity feeder school and weren't friends with any one in good houses, that doesn't bode well because at bid rounds they will all be like "Yeah, this kid went to my school, but I've never even heard of him, much less thought he was cool." There's an attitude (understandably) that if lots of people from the same high school are going to that school, why would they want to suddenly have you in their fraternity if you've never been someone they hung out with before. Your high school reputation can make or break you if that's the case.

Sometimes I'm skimming posts, and I mistake your signature for part of your post, and it trips me out.
Every life is in many days, day after day. We walk through ourselves, meeting robbers, ghosts, giants, old men, young men, wives, widows, brothers-in-love. But always meeting ourselves.
