Incorporating your GLO in your everyday life

I have been trying to find a thread that talks about this and I havn't been able to find one yet but do any of you incorporate your GLO in your everyday life. For example my first job out of college I would have to make flyers and write newsletters, I always used red and yellow for my font and I would put owls pics somewhere in the flyer. (Obviously I am a Chi Omega). I wanted to know if you ever do things like that?

My second question is I wanted to know if any males or females out there have been to weddings where the overall theme was their GLO, whether it was colors or flowers etc. I know some of my sisters have hidden white carnations in their boquet's and had red and yellow roses etc. I wanted to know of what cute things and maybe what not so cute things have been done.

Just curious.

Bella.

In my every day life, I do my best to incorporate our ritual into the way I handle my business. I repeat our secret motto to myself (in my head ) to remind myself of the standards that I have set for myself.

I haven't gotten married yet, but I already have plans on how to incorporate SAI into it. My wedding dress is going to be red & white. I don't care what anyone says--I have seen very nice wedding dresses that are white with a red sash. My bridesmaids will be in red dresses. My bouquet will be 11 red roses and a single white rose. My flower girl will drop red and white rose petals. A certain number of people will be seated at each table--a number that corresponds with our ritual.

That's all I've thought of so far. Hope my future-husband-I-haven't-met-yet doesn't mind.

Oh, and the white rose is in both Phi Sig & SAI ritual, so I'm not leaving anyone out.

my LS and her husband (a Kappa) incorporated their colors and hymns into the ceremony. Now Royal blue, gold, crimson and creme just make for a mess put all together, so they went with red and gold. im sure every org has a song that is reserved for weddings, or they just sing/hum the hymn.

not colors i wouldve preferred (esp for a spring wedding) but hey whatever.

I'm not too sure about how I would incorporate my sorority into my hypothetical wedding. Little touches are cool, but it's something that if you overdo it, it can be tacky.

I don't really like purple enough to do a whole sorority color scheme. I think pinning my badge somewhere inside my dress (as some of my sisters have done) would be my little "nod" to my GLO.

I wanted a pearlized/iridescent pink with gold champagne and green. I like the pearlized/iridescent coloring of the pinks, I should have stuck to strict champagne as a color--but it is too close to off-white, especially since I have extremely hoity-toity parents and MIL... And I chose green because my husband's favorite colors beyond "Maroon and White" are "Orange, Green and White", yeah, like U of Miami Hurricanes... LOL...

Of course, because of the way we did it, and it was a destination wedding, organization of colors did not happen to it. I wound up with quasi rose pink, off-white--reminiscent of a "callalily" (the flower I wanted, but not the correct color) and my maid of honor wore straight gold formal... That's because we planned the event in less than 4 months... Says something about stretching these things out if you want them done right. Besides in 2003, there was no accurate Wiki yet... LOL

I have thought about touches for my wedding - pinning badge inside of dress, turquoise and gray ribbons in my garter, white violets at the tables, etc. J is a DTD so I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate his stuff (purple irises and their colors are purple and gold) but it's kinda hard to get those to mesh well with mine, lol. Turquoise and purple? Yuck.

I sometimes find myself writing in turquoise and gray fonts and I still have letters on my car, though smaller now than in my collegiate years. Sometimes I wear my crown necklace or a lavalier or a lettered shirt. When I was in real estate, I had our creed up at my desk. On our mantle at home, we have ZTA's official banner and DTD's crest in nice frames.

I had a college friend who did modified Chi Omega colors for her wedding. She used a very light gold/metallic yellow and a pink.

My room is pink (and green), the majority of my wardrobe is pink! If I can buy something in pink, I'm buying it. (But most of my things were pink to begin with).

I don't wanna give my wedding ideas away, but I do know that if I marry my current BF (and there's a good chance I will) It's going to be a pink(Phi Mu)/red(TKE) Valentine's Day looking time! (But I will NOT let it look tacky, I'll work it out)! (And our flowers coordinate well and are crazy cheap -rose and red carnations).

As far as our ideals go, I think that if it wasn't something I had been upholding in my life since day one, I wouldn't have wanted to be a Phi Mu so badly. My parents always taught me to Love others, Honor myself and my family, etc., and be Truthful.

I really like green and purple together, so I guess I will have to marry an Omega.

My first wedding I used pink carnations for the bridesmaids' bouquets, and one of our Bible readings was one that means a great deal to G Phi Bs and is the source of our open motto.
I have a G Phi B Love application on my facebook page, and always try to live as an example of "the highest form of womanhood". When I taught I had the creed on my desk.

I've been to quite a few red or shades of red ASA weddings.

One of my sisters makes a point to use palm trees everywhere she can as a logo. I think she liked them before ASA though, so I don't know if that really counts.

My colors were purple and white but in my bouquet, I had a single red rose, a sheaf of wheat and a shamrock (Irish marriage blessing). I also wore my badge on my dress, not inside. And last but not least, my ceremony incorporated part of AOII's ritual. All in all, it was a very AOII wedding and snce my DH was not in a frat. he didn't mind but then again he doesn't see the "big deal" of my obsession with AOII. Oh well, he's got a long time to get over it.

As far as outward symbols go, I have quite a few of them in my home. At least 2/3 of the rooms in my house have one or more in them somewhere, but my GLO's symbols go well with my personal style. My husband just rolls his eyes when I bring home yet another something with keys, iris or fleur de lis on it.

My son has a few stuffed owls and onesies with owls on them. Kid #2 is getting an owl lovey.

I have a small sticker of our coat of arms on my car.

The few times I've done freelance design work, I've used a fleur de lis on my invoice.

For weddings, the closest I had was using a graphic element that had a fleur de lis on it. My sister used irises as part of the bridesmaids bouquets, but neither of us went all out with colors or anything. If there are a lot of members at the wedding, we may sing a song or two - it all depends.

I have a badge that is a ring, and I wear it on my left pinkie everyday. I have many items with Phi Mu on them scattered around my office. My mouse pad is a quatrefoil, my note portfolio has our crest, my waterbottle has our letters, etc.

My diningroom is the "Phi Mu" room with all sorts of fun things I have collected from Ebay etc on display .
