Have you ever traveled to ..?

India or Brazil? I'm in the early stages of planning a trip to either one and need a little insight.

Gracias

I've never been to either, but my brother just got back from spending about a month in Brazil. He did not like it nearly as much as he thought he would (it was his least favorite of the South American countries he's been to so far), and it was more expensive than he planned. He was still glad he went, and raved about the beaches, just know that you need to seriously watch your wallet/purse there...he became a strong believer in his money belt. He actually said he felt safer in Columbia than in Brazil.

I've been to India. I liked it, though, I was there vaccinating many stray dogs against rabies and working in a free spay and neuter clinic (they have a huge problem with pet overpopulation and a high incidence rate of rabies.)

I would be careful with the water you drink. I would update all vaccinations before leaving and have proof of those vaccinations. Stay away from stray animals. Use bug spray on your person. Stay away from Jammu, Kashmir, and the Pakistani border. I felt fairly safe, I mean, normal travel rules, guard your money and passport, don't leave any belongings alone, use the hotel safe, don't travel alone if you're female, watch out and know about religious ceremonies/customs, book all tours in advance, and don't trust anyone on the street with your money unless you are already holding the goods or have received the services for that money.
