I'm rooting for USC and Stanford!!!! I want to see those two in the CWS! Is that possible though? (Like, is there a rule that the two teams have to be from 2 different divisions?)
Amy, tell me if your Trojans won/are winning or not! Stanford only needs one more win and they are IN the CWS!!
I watched the Trojans play Georgia on Saturday (TV)! It was a great game for USC!@

hey, Newbie,
All the teams are already in the CWS (That's how it's kinda different than the Major League World Series, there's not just 2 teams). We should be proud...3 of the 8 teams are from CA!!
It is an 8 team, double elimination tournament and the final game will be Sat. Stanford is currently undefeated, as is USC, depending on this game. The two are in different brackets, thoough, so if they both beat the three other teams in their bracket (just a way of dividing the tournament up), they will meet at the end for the championship game to see who the CWS winner will be.
Currently, there are still 6 teams alive (Nebraska was eliminated yesterday and Georgia was eliminated a couple of hours ago.)
It's SOOOO much fun to watch! Both USC and Stanford, by the way, are known for their pitching...they are powerhouses.

Hey SuperXO!! Thanks so much for the info!! I think the double-elimination thing is kinda cool, b/c it's not like "sudden-death" (well, maybe not that...I mean, they don't have to play a must-win game the first time), where if you lose, you're out! (Like the NCAA March Madness Tourney!)
Is Cal State-Fullerton still in it? I know that yesterday they still were, but I don't know if they played a game today or not! Supposedly they are the Number One team in the Nation? Am I right? Anyway--it's awesome that CA is dominating!!!
Which are the other 3 teams still in the CWS? Oh, BTW, my error--I meant the championship game on Saturday . Thanks for the info again, SuperXO!!

Yeah, I like the set-up, too. And I just know a CA team WILL win it, with how well they are doing!!! CSF is still in it, though they lost in overtime to stanford yesterday. The other teams are Miami(FL), Tennessee and Tulane.
I was watching the Stanford game yesterday and Kevin Costner was there. Did anyone else see him? I guess we all know he is a huge baseball fan, since 90% of the movies he makes are about baseball!

I hope that a CA team will win it all, too!!! GO STANFORD, USC, and CA-Fullerton (though I haven't watched the last team play before!)!!!
If Stanford played USC though, I wouldn't know who to root for! It'd be an awesome game for sure, though!

Yeah, and Kevin Costner went to CSU Fullerton, too, if I remember correctly. Seems like USC, Stanford and FUllerton are ALWAYS powerhouses in baseball--USC won it in 98. That was so cool!

Oh and right now, at 548pm, USC is down by 1 point to Miami at the top of the 5th inning.

You're right, newbie. CSF is the number one "seeded" team, and Stanford is 4, I think USC is 5. That means, they looked at each team's wins, on a weighted basis on how good those teams are, so for instance, even though SC or CSF don't have as good records as other teams, they are seeded higher because they apparently played harder teams. I just figured all this out, so sorry if you guys know this already!
Hootie, even though I love the CA teams, I was really sad to see Nebraska go. It was such an inspirational story of how they made it to the CWS for the first time and how excited everyone was. I knwo in the first few games, there was nothing but a sea of red in the audience! That must have been overwhelming for CSF and Tulane, when they were playing them!

LOL Hootie!!! I was thinking the same thing!!! USC has quite a few fine-looking specimens themselves .
SuperXO, thanks so much for the info about the seeding thing, I was just looking at www.stanford.edu (I'm hoping to look at some pics of the team ), and they are the number 4 seed! Thanks for the info about losses vs. playing hard teams--I never knew that!
