Badges and guards

I'm a proud Theta whose daughter also just pledged Theta (unfortunately at my school's arch-rival, but that's another story...) and I plan to give her my pin. Are guards displaying the chapter initials still popular or not so much?

Yes those are still popular! It may be more popular at some schools than others though among collegians. I see almost all the alums at events wear guards.

Congratulations on your new legacy!

Guards

I never bought my guard. I became a member of the "official family" when I took a district team position in November and as a little congratulatory present, my husband bought me the large crown diamond badge. It's GORGEOUS! What I cannot decide is if I want the guard or if i want the pendant that you can put your badge on and wear it on a necklace. It's so beautiful and if I get the guard and dangles attached to my badge, I definitely cannot wear it on the pendant. I think I'm going for the pendant because it seems more versatile.

Oh and one more thing - as much as I love my daughter and as much as I'm DYING for her to pledge Theta (14 years from now - she's only 4) - NO WAY is she getting my diamond badge! ; ) Maybe I'll buy her the pearl crown one since that is her birthstone.

I'm a collegian member, and they are not the norm at my school, but I have one. I love it! And congratulations on the new Legacy!!!

Congrats on the legacy!

Guards are something that vary widely from campus to campus. Some chapters have neve seen/heard of guards. I got mine as an alumna, after I became a Theta volunteer.

Not only are they a nice visual addition, they really area safeguard against losing your badge! If her chapter doesn't have them, maybe she can start a trend.
