I'm sorry to hear that, Kyle. Why were you denied a charter?

Unfortunately, it has not come to fruition, therefore leaving a handful of quality guys out of the group of 50some as being forever pledges, since we will never be initiated.
I realize that it sounds a bit bitchy, yet I don't think many fellow PIKES quite grasp how hard it has been. And if you do, great, but then put yourself in my shoes, PIKE was my family at IU. Now, not only am I leaving IU, I'm never going to be recognized as a brother, which makes me plain sick to my stomach. I guarantee that there's about 6 or 7 guys here who are easily the hardest working PIKES I have ever met, period. They won't be recognized as brothers either. We'll just forever be "pledges" despite the almost two years work for some of them. That is absolutely atrocious. You can penalize a group by taking them off campus, not chartering, etc, but by never recognizing one of the hardest working groups of young men I have ever seen, that's not what a fraternity is about.
I'm announcing that I'm leaving (@ the end of this semester) tonight at chapter. I've done everything imaginable, I was even set to receive an award in January for attending a certain amount of Pike University events. I'm going to look positively on most of my experiences, however barring some miracle, I'm still gonna have a huge empty spot in me where the "brother" never existed. I wanted this b/c I wanted to be an advisor, to help out others, not just for the title. This is a shame.
I expected better,
Kyle

I know exaclty how you feel. It's my biggest fear that we won't be chartered before I graduate, and I'll the stuck in the "Pike pledge" zone forever. Are there any plans for Pike to start pledging college GRADUATES as well, as NPHC fraternities and sororities do?

As long as the chapter is chartered at some point, alumni can return to be initiated, I believe.

We had a failed colony in 1993-4. We were finally re-chartered in 2001, and last spring we looped back around and initiated most of them all in one weekend.
