Sorority Bags?

When I was in college (96-00) every chapter on campus did bags every year. Sometimes they were simple with letters sewn on sometimes they were sayings but each NM class got a different bag. I ended up with quite few because I had 2 willed to me, was a NM educator so I got those classes bags and then my own. I assumed this was a fairly common practice to have bags for the whole chapter til I started talking my my cousin who is in a different sorority at a different college. She said no chapters at her school do this. My question is are bags common for whole chapters to get?

im sure other chapters do this, but not necessarily bags... maybe its a shirt, or some type of novelty item. one org on my campus does a class banner, sort of like a homemade composite.

i know, off-topic.

it really could be just your campus, you know. which is fine, gives it character. maybe youll bring the tradition to another campus?

p.s i think its cute.

My chapter created a bag 2 years ago for everyone to get just for fun. We liked them so much that we made them part of our bid night gifts and started giving them out to the NMs with their bids.

All of our new members get bags on bid day and the sisters can order those same bags if we would like.

Thanks for the info. I know my bag collection is one of my favorite sorority things because as a teacher I haul everything to school in them.

I've never heard of anyone doing this, although it sounds like a cute tradition. Personally, I can count on both hands with fingers left over the number of girls who had sorority bags from all 4 sororities on campus (I was one of them!).
