The Truth About Hip- Hop

Has anyone heard of the DVD before? It's actually 3 DVD set of sermons by Eld. G. Craige Lewis. Two of my students watched the videos and they were talking about it today. I am interested in viewing it. One of my students said he threw away all his rap CD's after watching the DVDs. If you go to the website http://www.exministries.com you can see that he will also talk about music in general and how the Devil uses music for his Anti-Christ agenda. Anyone else heard about this or seen the videos?

Exclamation Watch it critically

I have seen one of the videos. The church I was a member of a year ago was doing a youth summit on hip-hop and it was recommended. I watched it with the summit planning committee. All I will say right now is that you should watch it with a critical eye. Though I think he is sincere, Elder Lewis makes some very bold claims about hip-hop that he says the Holy Spirit "revealed" to him. Yet the information he uses to back up the claims is very subjective and not definitive at all ( i.e. claims that Afrika Bambatta's Zulu Nation advocate the worship of Ancient Egyptian Dieties and that Ja-Rule wants his listeners to worship him in the line "Ja 3:16"). Before you show this to youth groups or young people and present this as "Gospel", I would give it a critical viewing with other adults and a seminary trained pastor so that you could assess the validity of his arguements in light of scripture and the best hermeneutical practices.

I saw the video a while back. There were big debates on lots of school message boards. Yes, you should watch it critically but a lot of what he says is on point. The clip of the Wutang video messed me up. I dont care if its for ratings or thug appeal I would appreciate you not decapitating my savior. If you are not a Christian dont worry about the video at all, but if you are use some of the information to help you be more aware of what you are exposing yourself to.
I think the video was a good reminder that the enemy is working.

I have seen it and have no doubt in my mind that the enemy can and does use music to influence people. Having something repeated over and over and over will eventually seep into your subsconscience. We've all experienced it.

Like Finallypink stated, if nothing else, you should take away the knowledge that you really do need to be conscience of what you are listening too.
