Diabetes Awareness Worksop (Medications and Monitoring Blood Sugar)
Diabetes Awareness Worksop (Adapting your Diet and Physical Activity)
Diabetes Awareness Worksop (Living with Diabetes to Prevent Complication)
At first, I thought they are just to make the public aware of the disease and prevention methods. But after seeing what's in the parenthesis, I feel like it might just be for those that are suffering from diabetes. Is is inappropiate to attend such a public event just to make my face known to the Deltas, or am I reading too much into it.

Interesting...
Ok, so the question to you is: Are you attending the workshops to get/gain more information on Diabetes? or are you attending the workshops because you want your face to be seen and what not?
If the latter is your answer, then you are missing the reason behind the workshops. Please do not go if your answer is the latter.
