Post A book?

Hello All!

I am a student a Ohio Dominican in Columbus, OH and am also a pursuant of the sorority ZPB.
I was wondering if there was such a book of "to do's and things to know" as a future member of ZPB. I know that the Delta's have such a book entitled "In Search of Sisterhood", or maybe it is not a book only for Delta's, I do not know. Please let me know if I have been misinformed. Can anyone help me?

Hi RaHel...

I encourage other Sorors to jump in. There is not a "list of dos and don'ts" regarding Zeta, and our history books about Zeta are for Sorors only. However, there is a wealth of information about Zeta on the Internet, and Sorors are always willing to sit down with you and discuss questions about the Sisterhood you may have.

Clearly, the easiest way (and best)to prepare yourself for possible membership is to ensure that you are exploiting the four Principles of the Sorority. Ensure that you have exemplary scholarship: don't just meet the minimum GPA: beat it! Zetas are traditionally known to be scholars and believe in the life-long pursuit of learning.

Service: Zeta was not founded to be merely a "social club": service is a cornerstone of our existence. If you can't prove you have a geniune passion to help others, Zeta is probably not your ideal organization.

Sisterly Love: This means more than just "sisterhood" to me. I may not always like every Soror I meet, but my oath dictates I must always love them--therefore, I am always willing to assist a Soror...simply because we are Zetas. Always present yourself in a manner that will prove to Sorors that when Zeta calls, (you'll) answer one and all.

Finer Womanhood: Achieving the Perfection of Finer Womanhood is not a finite process, but continuous. Zeta doesn't look for cookie cutter women: we value our diversity. Finer Womanhood is more than how you wear your hair, and knowing when to use your salad fork, although that can be a part of it. It's more the understanding and appreciation and self-respect for yourself and your fellow-man that comes from being a woman--it is a state of mind and a desire to be a Finer Woman that fills the very essence of your being.

I could go on, but have gone on long enough. Hope this helps you. Feel free to ask additional questions.

Best,
Shelacious

Thumbs up

Of Course, Shel rapped it up pretty nicely! But I have one thing to add! Get involved! Get to know the Zetas on your campus/in your area and attend their events. Not just parties, but Service Events and Forums too. I am sure that you already participate in community activites on your own but do your best to get involved, stay focused on your goals, and stay positive. Good Luck!

Well said Shelacious! RaHel I am glad that you are interested in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. In addition to the information my Sorors have so articulately provided, Zeta is a TRAIL-BLAZING organization, one that refused to follow the same paths as others. Although "to each her own", Zeta offers a sisterhood that can't be legitimately stereotyped, and membership to qualified, Zeta-minded women who are serious about serving our communities and taking the road perhaps less travelled.

I wish you the best of success in all of your endeavors. Please visit www.zetasofshelby.org which may prove helpful. In your search for greekdom's brightest light, strive for the one fashioned in Royal Blue and White!

RaHel,

I'm going to help you out a bit. If you click on the "hot links" link at http://www.interx.net/~zeephi, you will find a link under "Zeta & Sigma sites" for a web site called "Zeta Pages". There one of my Sorors has created a data base of many the Zeta graduate and undergraduate chapters, organized by greek letter. It will take you a while, but you can find out which undergraduate chapters are located in Ohio, and then contact your school directly or the chapter closest to your school.

Hey Guys, Thanks again!! I am willing to do all that I can to get involved with the Org. but I have another problem. I don't know what the name of the chapter is and every ZPB site that I go to doesn't have a chapter listed for the Ohio State University. Any ideas?

Rahel do you go to Ohio State Univ.? If so I might me able to give you a phone number to sorors at that chapter, being that I met a few at the National Black Student Leadership Conference this past January in Richmond, Va. The Zeta Phi Beta Sigma family is exactly that, a family, and as a brother to this already prestigious sorority, Im more than willing to help you in any way. If need be you can contact me at babyface1914@hotmail.com.
