kids or littles
hey girls
in tucson i ran across a couple girls who said their chapter recently went from calling little sisters 'kids' and big sisters 'moms' to the more familiar little/big.
i can't imagine calling my big 'mom'!
i was wondering if it was like this anywhere else, or if their campus is an anomoly?
thanks!

We would call our grand-bigs "grandma" sometimes. But never the "kids" and "mom" thing.
I have a friend who was in a different sorority at UCF and they called their bigs "mom" sometimes.

I've never heard of mom/kid. Our chapter used big/little.

I had a friend who was an Alpha Gam at Alma College and as I understand if most chapters on that campus use the mother/daughter type thing instead of big/lil. She implied that the Alpha Xi Chapter up there did that also. It may be a campus thing.

My chapter used to do that until about 10 years ago or so. Now it's "big"/"little."

We had pledge moms/daughters and big/little sis. But I would assume that they've done away with "pledge mom" and I dont think that "new member mom" sounds as good.

We had littles/bigs.
The chapter I used to advise has called them "Baby Xi's" for the last couple of years. I'm not sure where it started, but it bugs me to hear them called that. Can't imagine what it would do if I were the one they were actually calling that.

When I was initiated in Spiring '99 our chapter still used Momm/Kidd so I had Momm but in the fall we switch over to Big/Lil.

At my school, everyone used "Mom" and "Dot" or "Kid." By the time I graduated, I had 3 Kids, a bunch of Grandkids, and even 1 Great-Grandchild. It must be a campus thing.
