Jessica Simpson sought therapy over marriage rumors

Jessica Simpson Saw Therapist Over Rumors 1 hour, 23 minutes ago

NEW YORK - Jessica Simpson says the relentless gossip about her marriage to Nick Lachey drove her to visit a therapist.

"Yes I have," the singer-actress tells Teen People in its December-January issue, on newsstands Friday. "I respect knowledge of the psyche. I would be a therapist if I weren't an entertainer."

Jessica, 25, posed for the cover of the magazine with her sister, Ashlee. Both talk about the difficult challenges of the past year.

Jessica, who had a starring role in "The Dukes of Hazzard" movie this summer, has been the queen of the tabloids this year — much of the coverage dissecting the marriage of the "Newlyweds" couple. The pair have denied persistent rumors of a split.

"Hopefully mine and Nick's story will continue for the rest of our lives, like what we vowed, through sickness and in health."

Ashlee, 21, recently released her second album, "I Am Me," and it debuted at the top of the charts. But she has still had to live down her embarrassing lip-synch disaster on "Saturday Night Live" last year.

"Yeah I messed up in front of everybody," she says. (Last month, Ashlee revisited the scene of her musical flub, performing on "SNL" — really live, this time.)

However, she adds: "I love to sing. It's a joy to me. I don't do it for anyone else — I do it for me.

"I've had to learn that my voice is the most important one. Otherwise, I'll drown in what everyone wants me to be."

What caught my attention was the fact that she said she'd be a therapist if she weren't an entertainer. That was my good laugh for the day.

Do you guys really believe that she is that stupid and not just hamming it up for the cameras?

If she had acted "normal" on Newlyweds, it woulda been pretty damn boring. Give the girl some more credit.

I do think she's pretty stupid, but only because I think she lets her dear old daddy control her like a little doll or something. To be honest, I think there is something wrong with her and Nick's marriage--c'mon, how can he stand being married to her AND her family?--but whether they'll actually admit it or not, who knows. I read in one of those entertainment magazines that some people in the industry believe that the reason Nick and Jessica don't want to call it quits is because they're worth waaaaaaay more as a couple than they would be if they divorced. Think about it...their whole empire is built on their fairy-tale marriage, so what would happen if they went their separate ways? Nick is in a good place now because he's Mr. Jessica Simpson, but what would he be without that?

Ditto!!!!

I too had to laugh with her comment of being a psychologist. IMPO I don't think the girl could handle the amount of schooling required to do something like that. I guess she doesn't realize that to be a psychologist she had to have her BA and then her MA (and quite possibly her PhD, but I'm not sure on that one). I mean I don't even think the girl finished high school in a regular school setting, I think she fiinished by correspondence.

I also think that "DADDY" has waaaayyyyy to much control in his daughters marriage and career. Personally, I think if it wasn't for daddy they probably would be divorced already. If they weren't famous, yeah they'd be divorced. IMPO.

Oh and Nick would just be "that guy from 98 degrees and who guest starred on some Charmed episodes" (which I personally actually liked him on)

Do you think that if she hadn't become a singer that she would have failed out of high school or college? MOST artists/actors don't finish high school in a regular setting. She's prolly alot smarter than any of us on here.

A guy I knew in college went to high school with her. He said she was a huge biatch and everyone pretty much hated her.

I don't think she would have flunked out of high school, but I do not think she is all that smart.

Actually there are quite a few musicians as well as actors who have graduated high school and have graduated college just like regular people before making it big.

The entertainment industry is very brutal. One wrong investment and the money can slip through your fingers. Pick the wrong person to trust and you get screwed.

Actually, a lot of actors and singers do finish high school in a regular setting, it really depends upon their work schedules and the importance or priority that they place on that aspect of their lives. The class before mine included Eddie Cibrian, Andre Gower and Stephan Dorff, my class included Scott Nemes and the class two behind mine included Danny Pintaro and Dana Daurey.

I didn't say that.

But I personally don't think she would have put forth the effort to spend 4-5 years on a BA in Psychology and then 2-3 for a MA in Counseling. Again, this is my personal opinion based off the way she acts right now.

She could be smart, problem is she acts like a complete idiot.

I personally don't think she is entirely talented either. She just got a lucky break.

And as Wrigley said there are a quite a few famous people that go to college (think of all our famous Greek alums), the thing with Jessica is though when I watch The Newleyweds and I see her spending money like it's water (come on she didn't need to spend 3,000 on sheets or 800 on 2 bras and panties), makes me think that she's not the brightest bulb in the bunch.

Again, my personal opinion

While there's a lot of crap that can be said about her, the girl IS talented... she can sing much better than any of the other female pop acts.
