Hair Perfume

I duno if it's because of all the coloring and product I have in my hair but anytime I go outside, even for like a few minutes, I come inside and my hair smells like wet dog. I HATE the smell, especially since my hair products smell really good.

Are there any kinds hair perfumes out there?

I don't know of any for hair, per se, but there are body sprays and stuff like that. Maybe it's the weather where you live that's making your hair act up...I don't know.

Maybe some of the products are interacting in a weird way and that's what's causing it?

I got some Salon Selectives stuff from Big Lots just to take smoke smell out, but it doesn't really make my hair smell good. For some reason I think Aveda might have something like that.

Salon Selectives? I cannot find that ANYWHERE in Michigan! I've even googled it and can't find anything. I used to be OBSESSED with it. Shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, mousse, hairspray, gel.... everything. I was so pissed when I couldn't find it anymore.

Doesn't matter what products I use, my hair always picks up the scent. I was just at a restaurant bar and it wasn't even smokey in there, and I smell like I've hung out all night in a greasy bar. I hate it!

Aveda makes very nice smelling products...I've been using them for a while.

As for the "hair perfume", I don't konw of any, but I sometimes take one spray of regular perfume on my hair brush and brush my hair after it's dry. Seemed to work well for me.

Dessert has a hair perfume. Honestly, what I do is use body spray to make my hair smell good.

Salon Selectives....lol. Didn't they have the products with the letters and numbers that you could match together?? So funny.

Phyllis,
Try using one of the clarifying shampoos (Neutrogena makes a good, inexpensive one) for a couple of days. It will get rid of any product buildup in your hair that may be attracting and holding smells. Then, go back to your regular shampoo. That should help!

I use a hair perfume from the line called "Clean," which they sell in stores like Ulta... I also saw the line in a shop at the Bellagio in Vegas when I stayed there. It smells awesome, and my boyfriend loooves it. But you have to be careful not to overload, because the smell can be a little intense.

I use plain ol Herbal Essence. I got my hair permed right before school, and I had that whole "permed smell" in my hair, but a couple washes with Herbal Essence and the smell was gone (and according to the salon guy, the smell was to say there for a week to 2 weeks).

I also use plain on body perfume---holding it a little farther back and just spritz a spray or 2 on different locations on my hair, and that seems to do the trick.

Maybe it is th product your using that is making ur hair smell, and while ur indoors you really can't smell it, but once you get outside, the breeze lets u catch the smell??

I know that when i got my hair permed, while i was inside---especially in my room, I couldn't smell the "permed smell" but everyone else could. It wasn't until I would go outside that the wind was blowing and I could get a good whiff of the smell. Yuck.

But for me, Herbal Essence works good--so does Garnier Nutrisse (or however u spell it). I use White Rain mousse and that smells good also.

I use Pantene shampoo and conditioner (hydrating curls), Herbal Essence mousse (LOVE the smell), and Frizz-ease curl enhancing gel (with the little silicone beeds). Each product smells good, so maybe it IS just the outside air mixing with all the products. I can't find one whole line that I like because each step has a diff effect on my hair.... each product I currently use is perfect for my hair. I'm gona try the perfume or body spray thing and see what happens. Thanks for the help everyone!

I'm guessing you have curly hair--right? Well if you do, I know a salon here (i dont know if y'all have it...the salon is called Regis) but they sell a line of products for Curly hair---shampoo, conditioner and mousse/gel. I know the guy that worked there recommended it for my perm---but since the products contain Alcohol, I couldn't use em. I know i use Baine De Terre...it is like Frizz-ease, since it is an anti-frizz serum, but the one I use is unscented.

It might be better to go to a good salon and go in for a consultation or something. Tell them your problem, the products you use, and maybe they can recommend something to you. That would probably be the best bet---becuase for all we know, it might not even be the products, it might be something else.

Since I have sensitive skin, I put cologne or perfume on my hair, instead of my "pulse points". Works well for me!

I've always heard that putting regular perfume in your hair is super bad for it because it dries it out really bad.. that's why I bought the perfume made specifically for hair

I've always read that the hair is a good place to spritz some of your regular perfume b/c it will hold the scent longer than places like your neck, wrist, etc. I mean obviously you hold it back a good distance from your hair, but it never said anything about being damaging to the hair. I dunno. I do that when I go out to the bars b/c that's when I *really* want my perfume to last, otherwise you end up smelling like smoke/beer the second you walk in there...ick.
