On eBay for $110 today

(Actually, the picture shows Pi Kappa Phi)

This is a fraternity initiation (hazing) paddle from the Tau Kappa Phi fraternity at the Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.

The back of the paddle is hand lettered in gold, “C. Smith, May 1951.” I bought this from a man who said it belong to his brother who attended Drexel in 1951, and he confirmed that this was his and was in fact a fraternity paddle.

It is nicely constructed with a t hicker layer of a light colored wood sandwiched between 2 darker layers of perhaps mahogany wood.

The fraternity initials are carved out of the top dark wood laryer, exposing the lighter inner layer, making them stand out. They look like ‘TKO’. I believe them to be Greek letters for Tau Kappa Phi.

It measures approx. 26” long x 5” wide x 7/8” thick.

I’m just glad the picture was tame, considering the fictional description that accompanies it.

i think its funny when people still confuse the greek symbol Pi for something because its probably one of the most common since it is used in math - basic algebra even that most of us have to take in high school.
