Deltas Only!!!!!

Hey sorors,

My sorors and I have been discussing new activities for the upcoming school year but it has been basically centered around Delta Week.. We normally have our pageant, poetry contest, game night, HIV/AIDS Awareness, blood drive, can food and clothing drives, girls talk, scholarship ball, sweetheart ball, and we had a dinner for males appreciation, which was a dinner for exceptional males who were doing great in class or in sports and maintain at least a 3.0..We also gave them awards.. Last year was our first year as Deltas, and we did everything on our own..It was great but this year we want it to be better the next... So, anything you can think of would be greatly appreciated..

some of my undergrad chapter's big events are a Founders Day banquet, a fashion show, a basketball tournament, and a women's prayer breakfast. we also did a book club and a five-week program series where each week there was a program that dealt with one of the thrusts. most of the times, it was a speaker. when i was over the political awareness and involvement thrust, i decided to have a more interactive program that was discussion and had groups acting out top news stories.

Soror,

Have you all thought about collaborating with the alumnae chapter(s) in your area? Also what about doing a Habitat project? That might be something your chapter does with the alumnae chapter one Saturday which would be great to build better relations with the alumnae chapter as well as helping the community that all of you live in.

Wow Soror, I commend you and your chapter on your many projects. I agree with Soror CT4 about working with the alumnae chapter, you both can focus on one of the projects like Scholarship ball and make it a bigger event that targets not only the school community, but the community at large.

Keep up the good job Soror!!!! My undergrad chapter is having a Crimson Kisses Ball, and a AIDS walk as well. There is also going to be a Unity Week Celebration in which all of the D9 participate. We also hold "SisterSpeak" forums (probaly like your girl talk) once a month on various topics.

Soror your chapter seems to be doing many great things. Keep up the good work. In addition to collaborating with the local alumnae chapter, try to align your activites and events with signature Delta events i.e., Jabberwock, May Week, Delta Day of Service, etc. Also make sure you notify regional and national headquaters with write-ups about your events and other chapter news.
