Need help from any NYC greeks!

Hey guys! I'm looking for a place, or any ideas, of where to hold our Pledge Initiation....I am in Phi Beta Psi, so we dont have any campus or house to hold events in....and since we are on a super tight budget there arent many options.....does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Where in NYC are you? Is there a nearby Phi Beta Psi chapter whose facilities (whatever they may be) you can use? Are there any other fraternities or sororities at your school? Ask them what they do about initiation.

Do you have any alums that would be willing to let you use their house? I am friends with some alums from various GLO's in NYC and that is what they often do. Perhaps you could also see if an alum is able to let you use a room where they work. I have a sister who works for Citigroup. When we have our E-board meetings for our AA she has been able to reserve a board room for us to meet in during the evenings.

I know the different branches of the NY Pubic Library have meeting rooms you can rent for about $40 or so. I don't know how private they are, though. Any alums in the area who could offer up their apt/home?

Thanks for the suggestions- here is the problem- the closest chapter we have is in Waterloo- a good five hours from here, so using their facilities is definitely out! As far as alums go, our chapter was just chartered in November, so there aren't any alums yet!

I have thought about the Library, however Ritual stipulations would basically rule that out :-(

Why can't we live in a nice little small town?! lol

Are there local alums from a different chapter? Even thought they aren't from your chapter, they would probably still be happy to help.

Do any of your members live in apartments with a community room? Maybe the complex would allow you to reserve that. As long as they have window coverings (or will let you cover the windows) there shouldn't be any conflict with ritual. If the room is reserved for a private event, no one else should be coming in anyway.
