Question Help!!!!

Sigma Theta Epsilon Suggestions needed please help

Hello, I am one of the founder of a sorority on my college campus and we call ourselves Sigma Theta Epsilon. This is our first year of getting established and we are really excited bout Rush week and plegdes. I am the Social Chair in the sorority and it's my duty to plan the Lily Ball, which is an event that will be given for the plegdes who will become sisters. As i have stated i am new at this so i will appreciate if i can get some suggestions on how to make this a success. , Please help me out.. thanks..I don't want anyone to reveal exactly what are done when you all host these types of events but i will be glad to get some suggestions..thanks
Lady Sigma

Well there are many things that you could do. First pick a location where you would like to have it. The locations has to be done first so you can make sure that where ever you would like t have it, will be open on that day. Choose the decorations (color, style, etc..) and food that will be served. Get together with some of the other sisters to ask what they would like. Remember you do not have to do it all alone.

I assume that your sorority is a local one as I am National Vice President of Sigma Theta Epsilon, National Christian Service Fraternity established 1925. I will ask the your sorority stop using that name.

Please don't take this as rude, but....

If you are a National Vice President of your organization, sdwagers, then I'm sure you know a better way that your org could contact this NEW group versus calling this member out in such a manner on a chat site. I'm sure you are as passionate about your org as I am mine, but there are more appropriate ways to handle this "situation."

Just a thought....

To your point, we have made various attempts today to contact this person. I was being polite, can you say the same ? We can and will utilize legal action if necessary but we are viewing this as potentially innocent issue of a group putting some greek letters together without verifiyng the currnet or previous existance say at a place such as greekpages.org or google.com. We have no other means of contact other than what is listed on this chat board of which we have used them all. We are trying to be nice upfront but this is a serious issue. I sure that if the were an Alpha Xi Delta (?)that was not associated with your nationals you would do the same.

And yes I am the National Vice-President of Sigma Theta Epsilon.

I apologize for disturpting the topic of this thread, but as this is a serious and potential legal issue, I did want to make a public notice.

Please back to topic.

Being that the original poster started this thread nearly 6 months ago and it was their only post, I don't think they're checking GC for updates and this is not the appropriate means by which to get in touch with them. If you can't find anything else on them anywhere else, then they're probably not much to worry about.

one last time, this was only to make sure that notice was given in as many ways as possible. We don't want to find them anywhere else because they are not legally entitled to our name. This is a serious matter. I m sure that I started positing as KD frat or that your nationals would approach me.

I appreciate that you state that there is probably nothing to worry about, but again we take any use of our name seriously, we have had severe issues with renegede Sigma Phi Epsilon chapters that break from the nationals.

This is not on topic and I want this thread to be back on topic as I am a moderator on off the bulletin boards. Please enough of this as I REALLY trying to be polite and flame anyone.

Back to topic = PLEASE !!!

What? Are you saying that there are Sig Ep chapters that are closed and assume the name Sigma Theta Epsilon to continue operating under? I bet that was fun to deal with...

Stop bringing other organizations into it. That has nothing to do with anything. Yes there have been other groups that have tried to use the name KD, but those were on their own webpages and in other forums, not just a single post on a random message board. PM them or email them if you're so concerned.

As the moderator of this forum, I was advising you that this was not the best method to get in touch with them through.

There's no need to flame or be impolite.
