Question About Pearling
Several girls in our chapter have been "pearled" by their boyfriends recently. I was wondering if a girl is pearled with a ring if she should wear the ring on her left hand or her right hand. We were having a debate about this and no one could agree. Does anyone know the rule?
Thanks!

I've never heard of this either... IRL or through any greek stuff online. Guessing it's a tradition more at your school. Also guessing that it's like lavaliering or pinning

My chapter has pearling also. It's when a girl is dating a guy who isn't in a fraternity, and instead of giving her his letters on a lavalier *since he doesn't have any* he gives her a pearl. In my chapter it's as big a deal as lavaliering. However, none of the girls have been given pearl rings, they have all been on necklaces. Sorry I couldn't help...

Ditto, Sister Steph!
Right hand diamond rings are so popular these days, so why doesn't your sister wear her pearl ring on her right hand? Lavaliering/pearling is pretty much the next step before engagement, at least in my chapter, so she should keep her left hand free for the rock

Most girls in our house are wearing their pearl rings much like they would a promise ring, on their left hand. I would do as much should I be pearled. I was just bringing this up as a point of discussion.
Thank you, all!!

I didn't know what Pearling was...until someone posted about it in the KD Online newsletter. So, I posted it on my site:

I never heard tell of any such thing. I did not have a Greek boyfriend in college, and it would have been a nice thing for me to have. Those things mean a great deal. He often expressed a desire to give me something like a pin, but there was nothing like pearling. Since he is married to someone else in Memphis now, and I am married to someone else in NY, I guess the point is moot for me, but at the time it would have been lovely.
