Russ Parr - AKA DST
Can someone tell me about today's people poll. I know it had something to do with AKA and DST. I was running late and only caught the very end.

I caught the last 5-6 minutes of it. It was the usual color-struck, dumbazz, stereotypical "discussion": AKAs are light-skinned, DSTs are darker.
As per usual, the informed tried to shed light and de-bunk the stereotype, the ignorant talked about how they'd been to college for 5,6,7 years (with their 1.4 GPAs to prove it) and had neverrr seen a dark-skinned AKA or a light-skinned DST, blah, blah, blah..... And Russ capped if off with his "if we don't talk about it, we'll never get past it" gloss.
How is an 8-minute discussion (4 of which were filled with jokes) supposed to help in any way? R. Parr, u can do better, dude.

I'm surprised to learn about this topic - Lazy Lamont is Frat and Tyler Thomas is an AKA from my area. I would think between the two of them, well never mind.

Lamont left the show in January. Tyler did speak, but hey, it was what it was...

Isn't Super Ken (who did the "Straight from the streets sport report") a Kappa?
Either way, Russ Parr can't really do better. He played the Usher April Fool's joke which solidified him as a "wannabe shock jock," in my book.

I dunno. I've never heard him speak on it. In the past when Lamont shouted out the frat, or even in this (AKA/DST) discussion, Supe was pretty quiet...except for the jokes. As for Parr, dude has never recovered from Olivia Fox's departure.

DON'T PLAY IN THE SUN
Speaking of the color complex, I suggest the book "Don't Play in the Sun," the author escapes me at the moment, but a good read nonetheless. Its not academic, merely a young woman's experience a color complex.

Where is Russ and nem today....
Does anybody know what's up with Russ and the crew today? It's all music, no commentary, no jokes. They're playing the local bumps in/out of commercials "You're listening to Russ Parr and blazin' hip-hop and R and B on 107.9" and his voiced bumps into the local traffic report, "Tonya, tell em' what they lookin' at on the roads" but all those are pre-recorded.
(I guess it's possible the Cleveland station didn't pay the bill this month...)
I guess instead of the usual morning back-n-forth, it's oh, oh, oh, it's the Tom Joyner morning show!

I don't know, Tony. Maybe there was a problem in your city because I heard them this morning. In fact, they had Common on as a guest today. I am sorta anticipating the release of the album. I LOVES me some Common!!
*le sigh* Remembering when I saw him last year @ Essence....

I'm beyond anticipation. I'm so crunk about it, I'm not even thinking of buying the bootley. Support real artists, y'all!
But on Russ Parr, I only heard him after Ryan Cameron left Hot 107.9 in Atlanta, and the show was turrrrible. It was prerecorded stuff, but I still don't get the appeal. Hearing about such a stupid topic being discussed in 2005 makes me feel better about not feeling Russ Parr. Thanks for finding any little nitpicky thing to say about such positive organizations. Dang crab in a barrel syndrome if I ever heard it....
BTW, they weren't gonna hear Taylor's side considering that her looks epitomize the stereotypical AKA. I've worked with her on the Sister II Sister Sorority Luncheon, so I'm not hating at all. She's a wonderful, loving lady.
