Game Shows

What were/are your favorite Game Shows?

I recall two on MTV I liked called Idiot Savants and Remote Control.

And I like Jeopardy because they actually ask tough questions unlike Millionaire.

Anyone remember Name That Tune? That show was ok. I just remember when they'd duel it out. The first would be like "I can name that tune in 9 notes" Really? Ya think? Then you get some punk who busted out "I can name the tune in 1 note."

So the host asks him: "What is this tune about a girl and a farm animal?" "Plunk" "Mary Had a Little Lamb!" "CORRECT!"

Press Your Luck was the funniest. NO WHammy No Whammy No Whammy Stop! Im sure they didnt HAVE to put both hands on the buzzer but you know the producers made them just to make them look like tools.

Family Feud actually kinda sucked. Not only did Richard Dawson tongue the fat inbred sister at the end of the line, but his successor was hanging from the pro-verbial shower rod. And the host now I swear is slowly eating himself to death.

I love The Price Is Right (Hosted By Sigma Nu's own Bob Barker). Plinko is still cool and so is that game where that little dude is climbing that mountain with the ruler on top. Plus, the beauties

just thought of some more

Tic Tac Toe or Dough

Also does anyone remember the game show on NBC on Saturday mornings that featured brothers and sisters. The bonus round was running around picking up stuff that your brother or sister would want. I cannot remember the name to save my life but I just thought of it while I was looknig for a Classic Nick website.

When I was in junior high, I remember racing home from school to see Press Your Luck and right after that Scrabble. I loved them! My other favorites include Supermarket Sweep, Shop Til You Drop, Fun House, and the $25,000 Pyramid.

Press Your Luck is the finest game show ever to grace tv. I loved the Whammy that did the moonwalk across the screen.

To whoever asked about the brother/sisiter show w/the dorky host, it was called I'm Telling. Please don't ask me why I remember that.

I love Jeopardy. Always wanted to be on it. Especially in HS - those teen tournament questions are ridiculously easy.

I have serious serious serious issues with Wheel of Fortune. It just seems *wrong* that people can make so much cash/prizes for merely knowing the frickin' alphabet. Its a sparkly version of Hangman, people. It bugs me that very smart people come away from Jeopardy with a box of Rice-A-Roni for being #2 - and people who know *all* 26 letters of the alphabet (and can keep track of which ones have been used) can win 25K and a car, ec.

I watch Game Show Network way too much...
Lingo
Cram
Press Your Luck (no Whammy , STOP)

I also loved MTV's Idiot Savants

There was a show called Debt that used to be on Lifetime (I think) If you won, you got your debt paid off. The people had a "specialty" category, and the producers picked a supposedly hard question in that area - if you got it right, you were debt free. I *always* knew the Brady Bunch and Simpsons questions.

I was watching a rerun of Greed tonight on GSN - and Paul, the TV Geek from Beat the Geeks was on as a contestant...wierd. I liked the first season of Beat the Geeks - but the second host sucked.

I love mindless trivia shows such as Win Ben Stein's Money and Win Tuition and all those other shows like Millionare. I like to feel that I am smart when I know the answers to the questions.
I am also in love with the GameShow Network. Lingo is an awesome game and I love to watch the reruns of older shows and make fun of the hairstyles and clothing! Rock and Roll Jeopardy is awesome also! What can I say, I am a game show freak!

All time fave has to be The Price is Right, but I always loved those crazy Nickelodeon ones like Double Dare, and the oh-so-cheesy SuperMarket Sweep (which my mom and I are convinced we could win!). Jeopardy is so entertaining because Alex Trebeck is a pompous idiot who thinks he knows it all, with a ton of great fake accents. I laugh when watching it because I can't help thinking about the hilarious SNL skits with Sean Connery.
When you think about it though, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Scrabble, Classic Concentration...these are all great educational games. They help kids learn trivia, words, memorization - heck, even the Price is Right helps with estimating! Game shows are great educational tools, I think that watching them should become standard in elementary school curriculum.
