While reading that article I saw this one about banning low-slung pants in Louisiana

I'm sorry but this is down right stupid. There are definately more pressing issues here in Louisiana than that

It is stupid! People have the right to wear what they want and it should stay that way. But hey it might fall under indecent exposure, being that butts are hanging out Anyways I won't complain to hard, to be honest I won't be sad to see it go, pant belong on ur waist and not your ankles. But like I said it is your own right.

I am sure the state of Louisiana have something better to do with thier time but personally, I am tired to seeing everyone's underwear/a** crack/ faded g-strings, etc.

When all this came out, I thought it would be a fad that would disappear but it still here.

My opinion, it will not fly. Someone will say racial discrimination and it will be the end of it.

I think this thing is something, like many other cultural phenomena, that will have to just run its course. You can't legislate against this because it would clearly violate the first amendment (well maybe) . Secondly, you can't really jump all over the parents because kids leave the house and change clothes. It will just have to be something whose fashionable popularity fades with time.

I'm sure one of the "ole heads" will hip the "neo" to how this type of thing works

It's worth a try. I get sick of seeing these fools walking aorund with pants and shorts on 8 sizes too big. SOme of them have on belts and STILL have to hold their pants up. It makes me sick. Nobody says that they have to wear cowboy slims, but I have to right to not have to see people's butts and crotches everyday.

I don't see the point really. I haven't worn my pants sagging since 1994 and I am not a fan of the trend, but I don't see the purpose in putting a law into place. I suppose some poor soul that forgot to wear a belt one day would end up getting fined as well. I agree that they should just let this trend runs its course.

Though I understand what you are saying, no one's pants should be that big or baggy that if they forgot to wear a belt, their pants would be aflling to their knees.

I am not so sure that the trend will run its course. This has been going on for quite a number of years and looks like its here to stay. It makes me sick.

It is a political stunt just like everything else. We in Alabama have been dealing with the 10 Commandments thing for several years now. These are well meaning ideas, but we all know that you cannot legislate values or morals and certainly not personal taste or style.

Hell, I hate the high healed sneakers, but what can we do?

I hear you, but should there be a law in place against this? Just because I do not choose to wear my pants in that fashion should not give me the right to dictate how others should wear theirs. If school districts want to put dress codes in place that is one thing, but it is another thing to tell citizens that are walking the streets on their own free will what to wear and how to wear it. This is nowhere near "indecent exposure" or anything like that. This is not a police state and we not operating under martial law. This may not seem to be that big of a deal to some, but it really makes no sense whatsoever to even waste time in sessions discussing this.

Some people are too damn conservative for their own good. What you may not do in your house may not be the same thing that someone else may not do in theirs. This is a country that was built on freedom, whether we agree with some of the things that people are free to do or not. A $500 fine is ridiculous and it would surprise me if this even makes it any further.
