Make a Difference Day

I can't believe I've never heard of this. And I have a friend who works for the Points of Light Foundation.

http://www.usaweekend.com/diffday/index.html

I'll be out of town that weekend, so I can't partake in whatever is going on. But I'll be on the lookout next year.

Funny how it is the day after the stop-police-brutality day (i forget the name ). I wonder if any area makes a weekend of making a difference by making an effort to curb police brutality. PHA Shriner?

My Youth group has participated in this event for the past 3 years. Its a wonderful day of service for youth that then leads up to our National Family Volunteer Day activity in November.

We're having many events for students to participate in. My group is spending the whole night on the street to raise awareness for homelessness and poverty housing, as well as accepting canned food donations.

It is going to be cooooooold this weekend.

Yay, I can log in again....

I'm participating in this event for Make a Difference Day:

New York Cares Day - Saturday, October 23, 2004.
In partnership with the New York City Board of Education, New York Cares mobilizes thousands of volunteers throughout the city for an incredible day of hands-on service at New York City's public schools. Some volunteers paint murals, line games and hallways while others revitalize gardens, play spaces, libraries and classrooms- all to make our city's schools brighter and cleaner places for students to learn and play. So come out and spend a great day helping make a difference.

LOL. I'll be sure to add a couple of touches of black and old gold on your behalf.
