Post The ILLEGITIMATE President

Isn't this something? I think we all saw it coming but wanted to be in denial for a little while longer.

What's next? I'm sitting here trying to plan for the next 4-8 years. I personally don't think Baby Bush will make it.

My question is how do we become a part of the solution and not the problem?

Unhappy

I think the best thing that we can do right now is never let society and government forget what happened in this election. This entire situation has been the mother of a million jokes, but at the root of it is lies, disregard, and intentionally institutionalized disenfranchisement. (Do I sound like Jesse Jackson )It really is not a laughing matter, and the more we make the people responsible for the entire situation recognize that we are not going to sweep this under the rug, the more they will realize that we are SERIOUS about reform and responsibility. Hopefully, with that comes healing and reform. People can only get away with what they are not held responsible for. Let us keep all aspects of government aware that we will not allow the loopholes that have existed all these years to politically influence the outcome of another election this important.
Don't worry, soror! Bush will only be there for 4 years. Statistically speaking, the last time a president won the electoral college and not the popular vote was 104 years ago, and the last time a person in this situation was re-elected to a second term was never. Yaaaaayyy!

Red face

Most likely only four years director.........I doubt that bush gets re-elected. He is facing weak presidency because of the past month or os of events plus Congress is so divided that he will not be able to get much done. Congress is split practically down the middle with Democrats and Republicans so they are lucky to resolve one dispute over the next four!!

I said I was planning for 4 to 8 years, not because that man will get re-elected, but because after he's gone in 2004, it will take us anoth 4 years to recup.

One further comment...
LET'S ALL RALLY AND MAKE CERTAIN THAT WE GET OUT AND VOTE IN THE 2002 ELECTIONS (SENATORS AND CONGRESSMEN)!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, both houses are very close in numbers (Democrats vs Republicans). It should be our goal to make certain that we take over both in 2002!

What do you guys think of Bush's "diverse" appointments? The first three people chosen for his staff were minorities. Do you think he is sincere or is he trying to appeal to "us" since he had very little support from us? I'm not mad though, maybe these people will keep an eye out for us.

I don't know of his sincerity but I do know that it's darn good PR! That darn Bush! I have to give it too him, but at the same time keep a close watch. He's a slickster.

I forget what show I was watching, but after Bush made his first appointment (Colin Powell), some comedian called it his:

"Black People please don't Hate Me" Appointment.

It was funny, but maybe you had to be there... Anyway, I'm a little younger (just turned 20 on Sat.) and a little more stubborn, it is still very hard for me to fathom a Bush presidency, especially after I did everything possible (VR Drives, etc) to ensure that that wouldn't happen. However, in an effort to be part of the solution, I do plan to help with more VR Drives and Get out the Vote campaigns in 2002, and reach out to all those people who still think their vote doesn't count. BTW is it just me, or does GB Jr. not seem too bright?

Did anyone else see the news report stating that Gore gained 130 more votes in Florida?

Your right Director it may take awhile to recoup. ACTUALLY MOJO THE PEOPLE CHOSE AL GORE HENCE "THE POPULAR VOTE" the government chose Bush. I am glad though that Powell received the Secretary of state appoinment. In the beginning I heard that Colin Powell was two shakes away from being Bushs running mate.
