Making an MS-WORD doc read-only

Can anyone tell me how to make a document "read-only" in word?

I have to email a sensitive document, but I don't want it to be modified by the recipient.

Thanks in advance.

There may be an easier way but this is how I do it...

File, Save as, go to the "tools" menu at the top of the save box thingy, and select general options, then make a password to modify it. The recipient won't know the password so they'll have to open it as read only. Or you could make it a PDF file.

i believe in the tools, then security options there is a "read-only recommended" box that you can check. i think that would work too.
