Fall Informal Recruitment

Hi, I'm from Alpha Lambda chapter at OSU, and currently in charge of Informal Recruitment (COB's).... If anyone has any ideas, thoughts or anything that would be helpful for fall recruitment it would be great, because I want to do really well!

Also, does anyone have any really cool t-shirt designs or slogans that we can use for the "involvement fair" the first week of classes when we meet all of the freshmen and sign them up for formal recruitment? I also need to know where to get us some really nice shirts of some kind for the first round of formal recruitment.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!
-Sarah

Have you contacted your Recruitment Consultant and asked her for ideas?

I am talking to the guy who is head of Greek Life here at our student union, since I took a leadership class from him last year and he's very willing to help. If you mean our Rec. Consultant as far as Intl's goes, no we haven't really met with one yet. Our recruitment advisor has been helpful but we were more looking for advice from other collegiate chapters....
It's going well so far, I'm meeting with Kurt (greek life guy) again today and participating in a greek recruitment workshop soon.

i was the COB person last year for fall, and we did a number of things..
one week we did a progressive dinner..
the first night was little appetizers along with a game of charades
the second night was spagetti and a movie (like the yaya sisterhood)
the third night was dessert an ice cream social with a fun craft... or just more games..
it was really fun, and we were able to open up to the girls and get to know them really well.. we have also done the typical movie nights, friends night, american idol night, etc etc.., and one week we did a tye dye thing where one night we made the shirts, the next was a barbecue and the third night after the shirts were made, we switched them up playing some sort of game with directions

the COR ULTIMATE CHALLENGE!

Our COR girl this year (who's now VPR and rocks so much!) came up (with the help of our LC, Jillian, I think) to turn COR into a competition. She split the chapter up into teams and they all tried to get girls out to events...like if they get a girl to come out to an event they get one point, if a girl pledged they got like ten points and at the end the winning team got some kind of prize.

It worked pretty well, our girls got pretty psyched up about it. If you want I can try to find the "official" rules and type them up for ya.

Yep, what we are doing is the VPR and I are dividing the girls up into teams for "coke-dating" (where we call up girls who came to events and take them for coffee or lunch) and also these girls can kind of act as "bumping groups" for COB's. You probably know what that is.
I also came up with the idea to give a little award each week at chapter for someone doing a great job with recruitment, like we do the Study Squirrel and the Sisterhood Journal. I don't know what i'm going to call that award yet though...

Here are the final COB themes I decided on:
Paired event before "Greek 101" info session at Student Union
Buckeye Football tailgate on our Patio
AGD Mocktails and Sex and the City
Gamma Party (paired event with DG and KKG)
Pumpkin Carving with Alums
"Warm up with AGD" Fondue Party

We don't start school till 9/21 so I have awhile left to plan, thank goodness!
