Is she a member of a sorority, or just a legacy?
If she is a member of a sorority, you may or may not be a legacy (all chapters vary, though I'm not sure if I have ever read of cousins of a member counting as a legacy).
If she is simply a legacy of a chapter, and not a member, this has no bearing on your recruitment, other than perhaps helping secure a rec from the relation by which she is a legacy.

Each organization does lagacies differently, it doesn't go by school. Ask you're cousin - she would know.
Sidenote: I was told that one NPC considers 1st cousins legacies, but I'm not sure if that's true.

Yes, you are both technically correct... but the way a legacy is viewed does differ by school. At some schools being a legacy gives you a head start- a way to differentiate you from the crowd. At others, legacies are not very common and are more of a novelty. Regardless, having general knowledge of the Greek system is usually a good thing. Although it may not affect how the groups view you, it can help you better understand the recruitment process.
Kappa's legacy is the same as AXO's: sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother.
Atrainer- you were attempting recruitment as a commuter before, right? Good luck at the new school!

Alpha Chi Omega Legacy Policy
A legacy is a potential member whose relative is also a sorority or fraternity member. If you’re an Alpha Chi Omega legacy, that means your sister, mother, grandmother or great-grandmother is an Alpha Chi Omega member.

Awesome. Yet another pnm who hasn't even gone through recruitment yet who feels compelled to dispense advice and opinions on sorority policies and recruitment.

Wait I'm so confused. I'm a current member. But I don't understand why this is bad advice. The PNM's cousin CAN write her a nice rec, right? Sorry, I am genuinely curious.

Because non-members have no business speaking for sororities and their policies.

Your cousin may write a recommendation for you. If recruitment isnt that competitive or there are not a lot of legacies coming through, they may recruit you harder in an attempt to "keep it in the family," but you will not be extended legacy courtesies since you do not fit into the category of what is defined as a legacy for AXO.
In other words, as stated above, you need to change your attitude going in to recruitment as you are not guaranteed membership in any group.

Of subject, and no offense to the original poster, but does anyone else think of a training bra when they see the name Atrainer?

No, but for whatever reason your comment made me think of that commercial they used to play with politically correct names for athletes. One of them is a male cheerleader who said, "I'm not a cheerleader, I'm an athletic supporter." lol!
