Great Spiritual Adventure/Quest

In celebration of my upcoming 35th Birthday, I am preparing for a year of enthusiasm, joy, play, questing and basically loving life.

These some of the things I am going to do this year:

1. Create a holy book. Passages and sacred writings that speak only to me.
2. Find a secret place of total solitude in my city.
3. Document my life experience, review and create a forgive ritual.
4. Revisit my childhood. (Hold a tea party/slumber party with all my friends)
5. Do what I love to do, but in a different place. (Doing Yoga in a Nature preserve in Africa.)

I hope to inspire others to take a journey and beyond. Share your ideas and experiences you've had or yearn to have.

Congratualations on your upcoming birthday!! Are you a Libra also?

Thank you for posting this - I too am turning 35 (in 11 days) and have been reassessing my personal goals outside of career/school. I'll keep track of them here.

So far my promises to self include:

**making time to spend with my dearest friends...we are all over the country and have fallen into the "seeing each other at weddings and funeral trap"...we have to make time to travel & see each other & continue to build on the fun memories for future reminiscing

**making my health top priority (I like to exercise...no reason to feel guilty about it..its not vain to want to look a certain way).

**doing what makes me happy not what others want or expect me to do

**continue to give back through service and mentoring

& last but most importantly

**develop stronger spiritual practices - through daily prayer and devotions, tithing @ larger % this year. Doing good with attendance...now its time to get deeper...

Some of what you wrote invokes the Spirit and the Universe...

I am just asking, why do you want to do this? What do you hope to gain with your Spiritual Quest? Why do this soulwork at 35--what is the significance of 35 vs. 36? What purpose do you think it will serve you? You don't have to say it to me, I just want to know what I can share with you...

Have you read the authors, Queen Afua's, Dr. Laila O. Afrika and Marimba Ani's books?

Are you willing to make a sacrifice or surrender to a Will and a Way?

How much Faith do you have to entrust your process to the Spirit?

I hope you achieve your goals in life for your Spirit...

Happy Upcoming Birthday Bella Pearl 08,

I like the idea of a Holy Book that will be personal for you only. So when you need a spirit lifter you don't have to look far. I just may *borrow* your idea. It is important to have a ritual to forgive others as well as yourself to begin the healing process. Often we speak forgiveness with our mouths but not with our hearts and we continue holding the feeling of hurt, betrayal, anger etc. With a forgiveness ritual we are validating the feelings as well as moving on.

PEACE and BLESSINGS 2 U

Hapy birthday Bella.

I have to agree with you strivingsf that is a good idea. I was thinking about borrowing it as well. I have started a journal that I am writing my mental complexities in. It seems to work. I feel less stressed and can work better.

But a Spiritual (Holy) Book is a good idea.
